Ancient Wisdom for Modern Life: Yoga Philosophy Sessions
Yoga is more than just asanas. Explore how timeless texts and ancient philosophy provide practical, calm-inducing solutions for the high-pressure demands of modern professional life.
A glimpse into one of my philosophy sessions. Here, we discuss the kleshas (causes of suffering) as described by Patanjali, starting with Avidya (ignorance). Understanding these root causes is the first step toward true inner freedom.
What does it take to succeed in yoga? Maharishi Patanjali and Hatha Yoga Pradipika both give us a roadmap. It requires faith (shraddha), effort (virya), memory (smriti), and a deep, unwavering firmness of purpose.
True health is more than the absence of disease. In this video, I explain the Ayurvedic definition of a healthy person (swasth), which involves a complete balance of the body's doshas, tissues, and metabolic processes, as well as a pleasant state of the soul, senses, and mind.
Ayurveda and Yoga are sister sciences, both aimed at liberation (moksha). I explain how yoga works with the three gunas (sattva, rajas, tamas) and Ayurveda with the three doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) to bring the entire system into harmony.
"Nirvana means formless." In this session, we explore the concept of moving beyond the ego and identity. The shloka "I am not the mind, nor the intellect, nor the ego" guides us toward the experience of pure, blissful consciousness (Shiva).
Yoga is not just asana, it is a life vision. This video from International Yoga Day shares the message of 'One Earth, One Health', reminding us that when we align our spine, calm our breath, and find peace within, we contribute to the peace of the world.
About Ancient Wisdom for Modern Life
Many people treat yoga as just physical exercise, but I believe the true transformation happens when you understand the why behind the practice. In these sessions, we do not just hold poses; we bridge the gap between ancient scriptures and your current corporate challenges. Whether we are discussing the kleshas (the causes of suffering) or using the Bhagavad Gita to navigate office politics, the goal is to give you a framework that brings clarity and calm to your daily routine, not just while you are on the mat, but long after you have finished your practice.
Bridging Ancient Text and Modern Stress
In our high-paced environment in Gurugram, we often treat stress as a badge of honor. Through my sessions on Ancient Wisdom, we strip away this conditioning. We look at the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita not as religious texts, but as psychological manuals.
My approach is to translate complex concepts into something that fits your work day:
- Understanding the Kleshas: We identify the five causes of suffering according to Patanjali—Avidya (ignorance) being the primary one. When you understand why you feel anxious or reactive, you can step back from the situation.
- Aahar, Vihaar, and Vichar: I focus heavily on these three pillars—Food, Lifestyle, and Mindset. If your desk posture is correct but your mindset is chaotic, the healing is incomplete. We discuss how to align these for sustained peace.
- Scientific Spirituality: I explain how these ancient practices interact with your nervous system. We discuss the parasympathetic nervous system response and why techniques like pranayama are the fastest way to lower cortisol levels during a workday.
Why These Workshops Work
Unlike standard gym classes, these philosophy sessions are designed to cultivate 'chetna' (consciousness). You will learn how to transition from the mat to your boardroom, bringing the stability of a steady breath to high-stakes meetings.
We regularly host these sessions at our studio in Sushant Lok, Sector 57, and also travel to corporate offices across Delhi NCR. These workshops are ideal for teams or individuals looking for more than a workout—they are for those seeking a sustainable way to live with purpose, focus, and reduced anxiety in an increasingly distracted world.
