About Award-Winning Hospitality Design
My approach to hospitality is not just about the visual; it is about how a space breathes. For projects like The Fern Sattva in Kutch, I designed structures that do not just sit on the land but blend into the rugged landscape, using local architectural motifs to ground the modern luxury within its cultural context.
Hospitality design requires a distinct balance between operational efficiency and emotional resonance. Whether I am working on a city business hotel like the Four Points in Nashik or a destination resort in the Little Rann of Kutch, my primary goal is to create a sense of place.
I believe in liberating spaces. This means removing unnecessary barriers between the inside and the outside, allowing guests to feel connected to their environment from the moment they enter the lobby. For the Taj Gandhinagar project, I focused on a city-based wellness retreat model, integrating ten-meter high lobbies and spa facilities that promote health and calm.
My design process is comprehensive, covering everything from the macro-level site planning to the micro-details of furniture and lighting. I prioritize flexible layouts that can evolve with the hotel's needs over time. When we plan a lobby or a restaurant, we are also planning for the flow of guests, the acoustics, and the integration of HVAC and lighting systems that go unnoticed but define the guest experience.
I often collaborate with local artisans to produce custom furniture and art pieces, ensuring that the interior reflects the unique spirit of the location. This is not about imposing a global trend; it is about finding the right material—be it stone, veneer, or metal—and using it where it serves a purpose. My goal is to deliver spaces that remain relevant and comfortable for years to come.
