Yoga Beyond the Mat: Exploring Nature & Connection
Yoga is not just about poses in a studio. It is a way of engaging with the world—finding balance in nature, strength in family bonds, and mindfulness in every movement.
Creating moments and memories with my son. This playful practice together is a reminder that yoga is about connection, joy, and finding balance in all aspects of life, especially with family.
Ardha Chandra Chapasana on a tree branch. Practicing in nature challenges our balance in new ways and deepens our connection to the earth.
Koundinyasana on a tree. The strength and balance required for this arm balance feel amplified when you are supported by the strength of a living tree.
Veerabhadrasana III, or Warrior III, on a tree branch. Finding stability and stillness here requires the same focus and grounding as it does on the mat, but with a heightened sense of awareness.
Parivritta Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana, or Revolved Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose, balanced on a tree. Nature is the ultimate yoga shala.
Some fun explorations from a trip to Munnar a while back. This collage includes a pistol squat and Pincha Mayurasana, showing that the spirit of yoga is adventurous and playful.
On World Environment Day, a moment of pranayama in nature. The environment is our spiritual friend, and practices like this help us remember and honor our deep connection to it.
About this collection
Many students think yoga starts and ends at the studio door. When you train with us in Koramangala, we focus on integrating these movements into your daily rhythm—whether that means finding stability in nature or sharing a playful practice with your children. It is about building a sustainable, long-term habit that fits your lifestyle, not forcing your life to fit around a rigid schedule.
Our approach at Nirakula Yoga Shala stems from the belief that 'practice is everything.' When you see images of a pose performed on a tree branch or during playtime with my son, it is not just for the aesthetic. It represents a core philosophy: yoga is a constant state of awareness.
Integrating Practice into Life
We train our students to see the world as a secondary shala. This holistic view is a pillar of our 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training. We teach you how to use your environment, props, and breath to maintain your practice anywhere.
What We Focus On
- Adaptability: Whether you are an aspiring teacher or a practitioner, we teach you to move with intention in any setting.
- Props & Alignment: We utilize Iyengar-style props to build safe, foundational habits that serve you for years.
- Personalized Growth: Our TTC cohorts are kept small—roughly 10 to 15 students—ensuring you get the hands-on adjustments and feedback needed to master the technical side of Hatha and Ashtanga.
Yoga is a journey toward bliss, but it requires showing up. If you are ready to move beyond the basics and understand the 'why' behind the movement, join us at our Koramangala studio or via our interactive live online sessions.
Nirakula Yoga
I am Amaresha. For me, yoga is a rhythm of the body, the mind, and the soul. My practice happens everywhere: in the shala with students, in nature, and on the floor playing with my son, Vivasvaan. I am here to help you find that same flow.
