Yoga shouldn't be about pain; it's about progress. Using blocks, straps, and walls allows you to explore poses safely, regardless of your current flexibility.

Using yoga blocks to build a tower is a fun way to work on balance and precision. Props can bring a playful element to our practice.

Students use yoga straps in Navasana (Boat Pose) to support their posture and build core strength effectively.

Here, I am assisting a student in Ustrasana (Camel Pose) using blocks for support, while another student uses blocks to work on her splits. Props are versatile tools for growth.

A student uses a chair to safely work on her Hanumanasana (split), showing how everyday objects can be integrated into our practice.

Wall yoga is fantastic for alignment and support. Here, students use the wall to practice variations of forward bends and twists.

A balance challenge using a yoga block. This fun exercise improves focus, stability, and body awareness.

Another wall challenge, this time a one-legged balancing pose against a pillar. It's a great way to test and improve your stability.

A student practices Bakasana (Crow Pose) with his feet on the wall and hands on blocks, a great modification to build strength for the full arm balance.

Using a strap to assist a student in a standing backbend. This provides security and allows for a deeper, more controlled stretch.

I use a strap and a chair to help students safely explore deep backbends, increasing immunity and stimulating the lymphatic system.

About Yoga with Props (For All Levels)

You might think props are only for beginners, but they actually help you reach deeper into postures you have been struggling with for years. Whether it is using a strap to safely hold a deep backbend or placing blocks under your hands to find stability in a forward fold, these tools allow you to stay in the pose longer and breathe better, rather than just forcing your body into a shape that leads to injury.

In my practice, I don't believe in 'force'. If your body isn't ready for a full split or a deep backbend, that is completely fine. That is exactly what props are for. They act as extensions of your arms and legs, letting you experience the benefits of a pose without the unnecessary strain.

Why I Use Props in Class

  • Support: Blocks act as extensions to the floor, reducing the distance between you and the ground.
  • Stability: Walls help you maintain balance while learning inversions or complex balancing poses.
  • Safety: Straps prevent over-stretching and help you gradually increase your range of motion without the risk of tearing a muscle.

Whether you are dealing with chronic back pain, stiff shoulders, or simply want to improve your Hatha or Vinyasa flow, props remove the frustration. They make yoga 'Sahaj' (natural) and sustainable for everyone. In my classes in Mayur Vihar, you will see students of all ages and levels—from children to adults—using these tools to unlock their potential safely. We don't just 'do' the pose; we learn how to make the pose work for our body.

Namaste, I’m Vineet. For me, yoga is a journey of self-discovery, and if a block or a strap makes that journey smoother, we use it. I don't believe in painful perfection; I believe in mindful, supported practice that lets you listen to your own body.
