Learn AcroYoga Fundamentals: Base & Flyer Poses
Discover the balance of base and flyer roles. We focus on technique, trust, and building strength together in every session.
A classic 'flyer' pose that is fundamental to acroyoga. I teach the base how to create a stable foundation and the flyer how to use their body weight and core to float effortlessly. This pose is a key milestone for building confidence.
This advanced variation demonstrates the beautiful shapes we can create with practice. It builds on foundational skills, requiring significant flexibility from the flyer and solid support from the base, who is in a low lunge for stability.
Here, the base is in a strong plank position while the flyer balances on their back. This is a different type of acroyoga pose that challenges the stability of both partners and improves total body strength and coordination.
About AcroYoga Fundamentals: Base & Flyer Poses
You do not need a partner or prior experience to join these classes. I manage the pairing process myself in every session, ensuring everyone is safely matched based on ability, so you can practice with confidence.
AcroYoga is more than just poses. It is a communication practice between two people. When you act as the base, you provide the foundation, learning stability and control. When you are the flyer, you learn to let go, finding balance in the air. We start with simple warm-ups and move to foundational flows like the Bird or Throne pose.
Safety is the priority. As an active spotter, I use hands-on adjustments to ensure you are always supported. This makes it a great way to build core strength and body awareness, whether you are here for fitness or just to try something new. We operate in small batches of 8-12 students at my Rohini studio, allowing me to give individual feedback on your form and alignment. It is not just about the pose; it is about the connection you build with your partner. I teach this way because I believe yog se bhage rog hai (diseases run away from yoga).
