Partner Flows & Poses: Acroyoga Foundations
Acroyoga is more than a workout; it is a practice of connection, trust, and communication. Whether you are the grounded base or the soaring flyer, you will learn to move with purpose in a fun, supportive space.
This sequence shows a complete flow, from the initial connection to finding a stable handstand and transitioning out. It highlights the communication and trust required between the base and flyer to move smoothly.
Watch the harmony of flexibility and power in action. This video demonstrates a dynamic lift into a stable pose, showcasing the strength of the base and the balance of the flyer. The playful ending is what our sessions are all about.
A snapshot of a classic Acroyoga pose called 'Throne'. This position is a great starting point for beginners to build confidence and for the base to practice stability with their legs.
This all-female partner flow demonstrates a therapeutic pose known as 'Folded Leaf'. It’s a gentle inversion for the flyer that helps release the spine, while the base practices a supportive squat.
About Partner Flows & Poses
If you are worried about not being strong or flexible enough, know that we start with the absolute basics. You do not need to be a gymnast to begin. I teach L-basing mechanics and safety drills, ensuring you understand how to be a reliable base or a confident flyer before attempting any complex lifts. We prioritize partner safety with continuous hands-on spotting in every session.
Moving Beyond the Mat
Acroyoga is a partnership where non-verbal communication is key. Whether you are joining as a pair or looking to find a partner in class, the goal is to build mutual trust while having a laugh.
What We Work On
- Foundational Stability: We focus on the mechanics of L-basing, which is the cornerstone of partner flows. You will learn to use your skeletal structure to support your partner rather than relying solely on muscle power.
- The Roles: You will alternate between being the 'base' (the support), the 'flyer' (the one in the air), and the 'spotter' (the safety net). Everyone learns every role because it makes you a better partner.
- Mindful Transitions: Moving between poses—like transitioning from a Bird pose to a Throne—requires rhythm and breath. It is a practice in letting go and staying present.
Who Is This For?
Honestly, this is for anyone who wants to try something different. You might come in thinking, "Yeh mere se nahi hoga" (I can't do this), but that is exactly where the practice starts. We work in small groups at CaliClan Academy in Sector 59, or outdoors in parks when the weather allows. This is not about perfect execution; it is about building core strength, arm stability, and balance through a shared experience. If you are looking to get out of your head and into your body, this is it.
