Yoga Myths vs. Facts. Let's set the record straight with this introductory graphic, showing that yoga is more than what meets the eye.
Myth: Yoga is for women only. Fact: Yoga benefits people of all genders. Many men use yoga to increase flexibility, strength, and focus.
About Yoga is for Every Body
We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all routine. When we teach yoga to children, we use play to build concentration, and when working with individuals in wheelchairs, we focus on safe, effective movements like seated chest expansions or arm circles to improve mobility. We meet you where you are today, adjusting every movement to your specific needs rather than forcing a rigid ideal.
Yoga is not a performance, and it is certainly not reserved for the already flexible. In our home sessions across Mumbai, from Marine Lines to Andheri, we work with people of all ages and abilities because we believe the benefits of mindful breathing and controlled movement belong to everyone.
Inclusive Yoga at Home
We simplify the process. For our younger students, we skip the formal jargon. Instead, we use imagery—pretending to be a butterfly in Cobbler’s Pose or a frog in Squat Pose—to make the practice engaging and fun. For individuals with mobility challenges or those in wheelchairs, we focus on adaptive exercises. These sessions prioritize range of motion, upper body endurance, and posture improvement through movements like overhead punches and seated twists.
Debunking Common Myths
A common reason people hesitate to start is the belief that yoga is only for the flexible, for women, or that it requires hours of practice to see results. These are misconceptions. You do not need to be flexible to start yoga; you start yoga to become flexible. Consistent practice, even in twenty-minute sessions, yields physical and mental results over time. We emphasize that yoga is a holistic practice for everyone, regardless of gender, age, or physical starting point. Whether you are seeking relief from specific health concerns or simply looking for a calm space in a busy city, our goal is to make the practice accessible, safe, and effective for you at home.
