My Approach to Yoga Therapy: A Root-Cause Solution
I don't just teach poses. I help you understand your body's unique language. My therapy approach digs into your mental and physical triggers to create a path to healing that is actually sustainable for your daily life.
While relieving symptoms is important in the short term, my focus is always on treating the root cause. In yoga therapy, we treat the mind to heal the body, ensuring that symptoms don't reappear.
I go beyond standard clinical assessments by using yogic diagnostic tools. Understanding your dominant guna, prakriti (constitution), and lifestyle gives me a deeper insight into your triggers and coping mechanisms, allowing for more effective therapy.
Philosophical insight is one of the most powerful tools for healing the mind. By contemplating and applying yogic concepts to daily life, we can transform our entire being and create a profound healing effect on the body, mind, and emotions.
This graphic outlines some common mistakes in yoga therapy, such as focusing only on symptoms. My method avoids these pitfalls by taking a holistic view of your health.
Based on a deep understanding of how you think and react, I design effective therapy sessions tailored to your unique needs.
We are treating the mind, and through it, treating the body. It's okay to not have a solution in the first session; instead, we take time to understand the emotional and mental root cause.
Chronic stress manifests in the body in numerous ways, from headaches and insomnia to high blood pressure. My sessions teach you to use yogic tools to manage stress and improve your overall well-being.
Stress activates your 'fight or flight' response, releasing hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. This can lead to chronic issues if left unmanaged.
When you're stressed, your muscles tense up to protect themselves from injury. This can cause headaches, backaches, and other body aches over time.
Chronic stress makes the heart work too hard for too long. It constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure, raising the risk of stroke and heart attack.
About My Approach to Yoga Therapy
Before we start, I review your medical history—including any MRI or blood work—to understand your body's current state. We map your unique Prakriti (constitution) and doshas to identify exactly what is causing your stress or pain. This isn't a one-size-fits-all routine; it is a specific, actionable plan built to calm your nervous system, not just to stretch your muscles.
Why Most Yoga Therapy Fails
Many approaches focus only on symptoms—stretching a tight back or doing breathing exercises for a panic attack. While this helps in the short term, it does not stop the issue from coming back. My method treats the mind to heal the body, focusing on the root cause rather than the surface-level symptom.
The Diagnostic Phase
My sessions begin with a deep dive. I use both clinical assessments and traditional yogic diagnostic tools to understand your annamaya kosha (physical body) and your mental triggers. We look at your dominant guna (qualities of mind), your lifestyle, your sleeping patterns, and your personal philosophy. This gives me a map of how you think, react, and where your stress manifests physically.
What Happens in a Session
- Root Cause Analysis: We spend time understanding the emotional and mental patterns that lead to your physical complaints.
- Adaptive Practice: I design a 60 to 75-minute sequence of asana (postures) tailored to your physical limitations. If you cannot get on the floor, we use chair yoga. If you have restricted movement, we use props.
- Nervous System Regulation: We use Pranayama and Yoga Nidra to shift your body out of the 'fight or flight' mode caused by chronic stress.
- Home Integration: You leave with a plan you can actually follow. I do not want you hooked on classes; I want you to become your own guide.
Who This Is For
I work with people managing chronic pain, digestive issues, high blood pressure, and hormonal imbalances like PCOD or thyroid. My sessions are designed to support your existing medical treatments, not replace them. We focus on daily habits—diet, sleep, and self-talk—because true healing happens in the hours you are not on the mat.
Kriti
I'm Kriti. I left my corporate job because I realized the real value of yoga wasn't in flexible poses, but in how it helps us handle the chaos of modern life. I work with you to understand your specific body, your triggers, and your habits, building a healing plan that makes sense for your lifestyle.
