My lessons go beyond basic steps to help you master compas—the rhythmic cycles that define the art form—and the Andalusian storytelling traditions behind the music. Whether you are a total beginner or a dancer looking to add texture to your choreography, we start by listening to the pulse of the music to make your movement feel natural and authentic.
Understanding the Pillars of Flamenco
Flamenco is a conversation between the dancer (baile), the singer (cante), and the guitarist (toque). Many beginners focus only on footwork, but the true essence lies in the compas. In my Mumbai workshops, we break down these complex 12-count rhythms so you can actually feel the music rather than just counting it.
The Andalusian Connection
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the streets of Jerez and Seville. Just like the Cantes de Ida y Vuelta—styles that traveled to Latin America and returned with new flavors—Flamenco itself is constantly evolving.
