The Grind: Triathlon Training Reality
You see the podium finish, but this is the real story. Here is what my daily training looks like, no fluff, just hours of work, sweat, and repetition in the pool and on the road.
What a privilege it is to eat, sleep, train, repeat. This is the simple, focused rhythm of an athlete's life. From the pool to the indoor trainer to the road, the work never stops.
A day in the life. I started riding seriously to be more environmentally friendly, and it evolved into a competitive passion. This is a quick look at my journey, my training philosophy, and my favorite gear.
Some fear the fire, some become it. Early morning swim sessions are where you build the mental and physical foundation for triathlon. It's just you, the water, and your determination.
Pre-workout activations are non-negotiable. Taking a few minutes to warm up properly with resistance bands before a swim is as important as the workout itself for reducing the risk of injury.
A typical training day montage. It starts with a dive into the pool, transitions to a long, hard effort on the bike, and finishes with a run under the palm trees. This is the swim-bike-run lifestyle.
Been a while! A fun reel showing the different sides of my life. The intense focus of a cyclist, the freedom of a runner, and the joy of just dancing on a crosswalk. It's all part of the journey.
The expectation of a beautiful morning ride versus the reality of struggling against the wind. The elements don't care about your plans. They just make you stronger.
About this collection
You do not get strong by doing what is easy. My training, and the training of the athletes I coach, is not about looking good in gear. It is about early morning swims, technical drills that feel repetitive, and mastering your bike mechanics. If you want to race an Ironman 70.3, you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
People ask me how I stay consistent when motivation fades. The secret is not motivation, it is routine. In these clips, you see the unglamorous side of triathlon, from the pre-workout activations to the bike maintenance and open water drills at Miramar Beach. That is where races are actually won.
When I run my camps in Goa, we do not just swim and cycle. We focus on the why behind every movement. Whether it is stroke correction with Olympian Nisha Millet or handling technical bike climbs with Naveen Raj, we treat training like a job. You need to know how to fix a puncture under pressure, how to manage your hydration in high humidity, and how to fuel when your body wants to quit. My approach is simple: be an adult, untrain the habits that are not working, and retrain your body with data and discipline. Whether you are a beginner or looking to smash your PB, stop looking for hacks. Start showing up.
