Muay Thai Technique and Pad Work Drills
Real Muay Thai is built on the mat, not just talked about. These drills develop the precision, power, and muscle memory that separate a hobbyist from a fighter.
As your Kru, I demonstrate the standard. This pad work session shows the kind of intensity and technical flow we aim for, combining punches, kicks, and elbows.
This drill begins with a traditional bow of respect before moving into technical work. The focus here is on executing clean kicks and sharp elbows on the pads.
A student practicing combinations on the pads, including jabs, crosses, and kicks. This is how we build muscle memory and ensure techniques are sharp and fast.
About Building the Fighter: Technique & Drills
You see the pad work in these clips? That is where we build the engine. It is not about looking pretty; it is about repetition. When I hold pads for my students, I am looking for one thing: clean impact. Whether it is the jab-cross combination or the roundhouse kick, we drill until your body moves before your mind thinks.
The Science of the Strike
We do not just throw punches. In Muay Thai, every limb is a weapon. The drills you see here are designed to build your 'Muay'—the art of eight limbs. We focus on the basics: the jab, the cross, the lead hook, and the heavy roundhouse. We drill these until they become instinct, so when you are in the ring, you do not have to think about your form.
Why Pad Work is Mandatory
Pad work is where we bridge the gap between hitting a heavy bag and sparring with a live opponent. It teaches you range, timing, and how to snap your strikes. If your stance is lazy, I will tell you. If your elbow is dropping, we will fix it. We follow the technical standards I learned under Grand Master Woody in Thailand.
Building Your Engine
This is not a weight-loss bootcamp, though you will get fit. This is fight preparation. We include conditioning into our drills—push-ups, sit-ups, and sprints—because a fighter with technique but no gas tank is a sitting duck. If you are in Vidyaranyapura and want to learn how to throw a real kick, this is the place to do it. Bring your sweat and leave your ego at the door.
