Simple Ayurvedic Wellness Rituals for Daily Health
Wellness isn't just about what you do on the mat. These simple, traditional Ayurvedic practices are easy habits you can start at home today.
I often share knowledge about simple Ayurvedic rituals like Navel Oiling (Nabhi Chikitsa). This infographic explains its many benefits, from improving digestion and skin glow to calming the mind. It's an easy addition to your daily wellness routine.
This guide explains the benefits of foot massage in Hindi, a practice I highly recommend for relieving stress and improving circulation. It's a wonderful way to practice self-care and connect with the healing wisdom of Ayurveda.
About Ayurvedic Wellness Insights
Most people think wellness requires a massive lifestyle change, but I usually tell my students that starting small is better. Using just a few drops of warm sesame or coconut oil for navel massage at night can genuinely help with bloating and sleep quality, and it takes less than a minute to do at home.
In our classes at the Yamuna Vihar and West Jyoti Nagar studios, we often talk about how yoga is just the beginning. Ayurveda provides the tools to carry that sense of balance into your everyday life. Many of my students struggle with screen fatigue or digestive issues, and they are often surprised by how effective traditional, non-medical remedies can be.
Why Nabhi Chikitsa (Navel Oiling) Works
Your navel is a vital energy center. Applying warm oil here—before bed—can help calm the nervous system and aid digestion. I recommend using organic coconut oil in summers to cool the body, or sesame oil in winters for warmth and joint support.
Foot Massage as a Daily Tonic
We spend all day on our feet, yet we rarely give them the care they need. A simple nightly massage with warm mustard or almond oil, focusing on the soles, improves blood circulation and is one of the most effective ways to combat insomnia. It helps ground your energy after a busy day.
Keep It Consistent
These rituals are not 'treatments' that work once; they are habits. Like our yoga practice, consistency is what brings the results. If you are ever unsure about which oil to use or how to start, feel free to ask me during our next session at the studio. I am always happy to explain the 'why' and 'how' behind these traditional methods.
