Yoga & Ayurvedic Wisdom for Daily Life
Yoga is not just movement; it is a holistic way of life. Here, I share the foundational principles of Ayurveda and traditional yoga to help you find balance in your daily routine.
In Yoga and Ayurveda, sleep or 'nidra' is considered a 'maha aushadhi' or great medicine. In this video, I explain how deep, restful sleep is essential for balancing the body's energies and unlocking its natural healing power.
Did you know that some food combinations can act like poison in the body? I discuss the Ayurvedic concept of 'Virudh Aahar' or incompatible foods, explaining why combinations like milk and salt should be avoided for good health.
A core principle of my teaching philosophy. "Put strength in your words, not your voice, because crops grow from gentle rain, not floods." This reminds us that true growth comes from consistent, gentle effort, not from force.
A New Year's message on the power of 'Kshama' or forgiveness. I explain how letting go of ego and embracing forgiveness is a powerful practice for bringing peace and joy into our lives.
About Wisdom for Life: The Yogic & Ayurvedic Approach
Most people treat yoga as a physical workout, but the real healing happens when you align your daily lifestyle with nature. My teachings here focus on the three pillars of health: Asana (posture), Aahar (nutrition), and Nidra (rest). Before you step on the mat, understand that simple adjustments in your food combinations and sleep routine often yield more significant, long-term results for your physical and mental health than exercise alone.
Understanding Your Body's Needs
True wellness at Amritam Yoga is about balancing your energies. It is not just about how long you can hold a pose, but how you treat your body off the mat.
- The Power of Nidra: In Ayurveda, deep, restful sleep is considered 'Maha Aushadhi' (the great medicine). It is when your body balances its Vaat, Pitt, and Kaph doshas. If your sleep is compromised, no amount of intense exercise will bring you complete health.
- The Truth About Food: We often discuss 'Virudh Aahar'—food combinations that, while seemingly innocent, can work against your body. For instance, combining certain fruits or mixing dairy with incompatible items can disrupt your digestion and immunity. My goal is to teach you what to avoid so you don't unknowingly cause stress to your system.
- Slow & Steady Growth: I often say, 'Crops grow from gentle rain, not floods.' You do not need to push your body to the point of exhaustion to see progress. Whether you are learning to manage weight or seeking relief from chronic stress, the path of Yoga requires consistent, gentle effort.
