True artistry requires an unshakable foundation. We focus on old-school drills, posture, and technical discipline to build capable young dancers from the ground up.

A first step onto the stage for our Integrated Foundation students. They present their first jazz performance, bright, earnest, and full of promise.

Barre work is essential for building a strong jazz foundation. Here, students practice drills with sharp, controlled movements to develop precision and muscle memory.

"Prep and brush." I guide my students through barre exercises, emphasizing the correct preparation and execution to build strength and clean lines for jazz dance.

In our Integrated Foundation class, young dancers learn to execute jazz movements with focus and control, building the core skills for more complex choreography.

A new batch of young dancers begins their journey in our Integrated Foundation Program, learning the fundamentals of jazz and street funk in a structured environment.

Our Integrated Foundation Division offers a curated blend of jazz, barre, and technical work for children and adult beginners, building a comprehensive dance education.

Students in the Jazz Division for ages 7-15 focus on posture and alignment, critical components for developing as a strong, technical dancer.

A student in our Foundation in Jazz program practices her technique, demonstrating the poise and control that we cultivate from the very beginning.

From floor work to dynamic poses, our Integrated Foundation Program for girls builds flexibility, strength, and coordination through dedicated jazz training.

I guide students through a deep stretch, focusing on reaching through the diagonal to improve flexibility and body awareness, essential skills for any dancer.

About Foundation in Jazz: The First Steps (Ages 7-15)

You will not find choreography shortcuts here. My classes prioritize barre work, alignment, and repetitive, precise drills that condition the body correctly. It is a slow, meticulous process that focuses on posture and muscle memory over surface-level routines, ensuring students develop the technical integrity required for genuine artistry.

The Methodology of Discipline

Jazz dance is often misunderstood as merely high-energy movement. In my studio, it is a rigorous discipline. I believe in foundation first, always. We strip away the noise and focus on the mechanics of the body: posture, turnout, and muscle control. This requires patience from the student and commitment from the parent.

What to Expect in Class

For students aged 7 to 15, the Foundation in Jazz program is structured to build a dancer from the ground up:

  • Barre Conditioning: Essential for alignment and structural strength.
  • Old School Drills: Repetitive technical work that builds muscle memory.
  • Individual Attention: We maintain limited batch sizes, allowing me to provide direct, specific corrections rather than generic group instruction.

Why My Studio is Different

I established this school because I found the technical level of most dance education to be insufficient. My studio is for the serious learner. There are no gimmicks, no bulk discounts, and no compromises on technique. We build dancers who possess the grit and form to actually perform. If you are seeking a serious dance education for your child, this is where you start.

I founded The World Dance School to provide a space where technique is non-negotiable. I do not believe in quick fixes; I believe in building dancers who actually understand their bodies. My goal is to cultivate discipline, not just choreography.
