Bharatanatyam Classes for Kids in Malad West
We nurture young dancers through storytelling, playful foundational exercises, and patient, structured guidance in Bharatanatyam.
The initial learnings are always a bliss. Here I am with our kids' special batch, focusing on basic hand gestures and sitting postures. We make learning enjoyable while ensuring they build correct habits from day one.
A lively Bharatanatyam session with our tiny tots. I am using a mix of encouragement and playful instruction to teach them basic footwork and build their energy and confidence.
Teaching the classic Shiva pose to our little ones. I break down the hand gestures and posture in a way that is easy for them to understand and replicate, helping them embody the powerful stance of Lord Nataraja.
A learning session with our kids' special batch where I am teaching the meaning behind different mudras. I use storytelling to explain concepts like 'Angikam' (body) to make the theory of dance engaging and memorable for them.
Explaining 'Namaskriya' or the opening prayer shloka to our tiny tots. I emphasize the importance of 'pretty pretty' hands and strong, clear mudras to make their dance beautiful right from the beginning.
A glimpse into our offline Bharatanatyam theory and shlokam session. Alongside practical training, we ensure our young students learn the rich theoretical background and chants that are integral to classical dance.
Our kids' batch performing "Shri Vighnarajam Bhaje". It is wonderful to see them perform a full routine with coordination and joy, showcasing what they have learned in class.
About For the Little Dancers: Nurturing Young Talent
I don't just teach steps; I teach discipline and technique from the very first class. Whether it's correcting a child's Aramandi posture or ensuring their hands hold the correct mudra, we focus on building these habits early because, ek galat aadat body mein ghus gayi toh nikalna mushkil hai (once a wrong habit gets into the body, it’s tough to remove).
Building the Right Foundation
At Abhibhava Art Academy, my focus for the kids' batches is simple: lay a strong foundation that lasts a lifetime. We don't rush into heavy choreography. Instead, we spend time on the basics that matter. We work on the Namaskriya (opening prayer) to bring focus, teach Mudras (hand gestures) through storytelling, and ensure that every foot tap is done with the right energy and alignment.
Why Technique Matters Early
I see many children come in with habits picked up from watching videos. My job is to gently correct those, ensuring their posture remains geometric and safe. We teach the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus, which means even the little ones learn the theory behind the movements. It isn't just about dance; it's about teaching them discipline and concentration—skills that help them in school and life, not just on the stage.
Our Approach to Classes
- Small Batches: I keep our groups small so every child gets hands-on attention. Whether it's adjusting a shoulder or fixing the half-sit posture, I am right there with them.
- Inclusive Environment: Whether your child is shy or energetic, we meet them where they are. We use high-energy instruction and playful challenges to keep them engaged.
- Stage Readiness: We believe dance is a performing art. We encourage our students to perform at festivals and events, helping them build confidence and shed stage fright early.
If you are in Malad West and looking for a place where your child learns classical dance with precision and heart, come join our family. We have batches scheduled for weekends and evenings to fit your child's routine.
