A look inside our Ashtanga Mysore style class. This self-paced practice allows you to move at your own rhythm while receiving personalized instruction. It's a journey of self-discovery, unfolding one breath at a time.
People often ask what my favorite part of teaching is. It's seeing you connect with your own strength, work through challenges, and leave the shala feeling a little lighter than when you arrived. Your journey is my greatest reward.
In our classes, learning is a constant process. Here, I'm providing hands-on adjustments to help students find more space and stability in their forward folds, ensuring they practice safely and effectively.
A gentle adjustment can make all the difference in deepening a posture like Eka Pada Rajakapotasana. My focus is always on helping you understand the alignment in your own body, with patience and support.
About Ashtanga Yoga: Start Your Journey
Many people worry they aren't flexible enough to start, but our foundation sessions are designed precisely for where you are right now. In these small groups, we break down the Primary Series, focusing on how your specific body handles breath and movement, rather than trying to force you into a social media pose. We pair weekend immersive sessions with a week of Mysore-style classes so you have the time to integrate what you learn without the pressure to get it right on the first try.
Why Start with an Intro Course?
Ashtanga yoga is a structured, lineage-based practice. It can be intimidating to walk into a generic class without understanding the basics of the Vinyasa system or how to breathe properly. Our intro course creates a safe, controlled environment where you learn to build a foundation that actually supports your body. We focus on the 'why' behind the postures, helping you understand alignment mechanics so you can practice safely, whether you are at our Delhi studio or rolling out your mat at home.
What You Will Learn
- Foundational Postures: We don't just jump into difficult poses. We focus on the sun salutations and the standing sequences that form the backbone of the practice.
- Breath-Movement Connection: Learn the Ujjayi breath, which is the heartbeat of Ashtanga. It is the tool that helps you stay present and calm even when the physical practice feels challenging.
- Personalized Alignment: With our small group sizes, you receive individual adjustments. If a forward fold or a backbend feels impossible, we use props or modifications to make the pose accessible to your body, not the other way around.
Moving Into Your Own Rhythm
One of the most unique aspects of the traditional Ashtanga lineage is the 'Mysore style' class. After our weekend immersion, we give you a week of complimentary Mysore classes. This is where you move from following a teacher to practicing at your own rhythm, with me there to support, adjust, and guide you. It is the transition from 'learning to do' to 'doing.'
Whether you are looking to manage stress, build physical strength, or simply find a community in South Delhi, this course is your entry point. No judgment, no rush—just the practice.
