Ceramics and Sculptures by Our Students
See what happens when curious hearts meet clay. These pieces are not just pottery; they are personal stories, first experiments, and creative milestones shaped by our workshop community in Bangalore.
This stunning terracotta sculpture, "Naughty Girl," was brought to life by a student in our workshop. The piece is full of spirit and attitude, from the confident pose to the incredible detail in the hair and muscles.
Titled "Damn Red Woman," this powerful sculpture was made by a student to symbolize resilience. The vibrant red glaze and the subtle cracks in the form tell a story of strength, pain, and unbroken beauty.
A student's work from our sculpture workshop, capturing a moment of quiet contemplation. The blindfolded figure, with its head tilted upwards, evokes a powerful sense of inner searching and trust.
A proud moment for one of our students, holding his intricate terracotta sculpture. Our workshops, led by masters like Jayan sir, guide participants to shape not just clay, but meaning and memory.
This incredible bust was created by a self-taught artist who uses our kiln firing services. It's a privilege to be a part of another artist's journey and help bring their stunning visions to life.
A student brought their love for Minions into the studio and created this adorable character during a one-day workshop. It’s a perfect example of how pottery can be a fun way to celebrate the things you love.
This hand-built luminary, with its deep blue glaze and geometric cutouts, was made by an 11-year-old student. It’s a beautiful reminder that creativity and talent have no age limit.
About this collection
Every piece you see here was made by someone who walked through our studio doors with little to no prior experience. From that shaky first mug to intricate hand-built sculptures, these works prove that the only real requirement for clay art is a willingness to get your hands messy and try something new.
A Space for Growth
When I started The Janbo in Bengaluru, I wanted to create more than a classroom. I wanted a sanctuary where the pressure to be 'perfect' disappears the moment you touch the clay. The creations you see in this gallery are the results of that philosophy.
What Our Students Explore
Our community creates a wide range of works, depending on the workshops and their own curiosity:
- Hand-building: Many students start here, pinching and coiling clay to make mugs, leaf plates, and figurines. It is tactile and very forgiving for beginners.
- Sculpture: We host specialized sessions—often with masters like Jayan sir—where students go deeper into anatomical busts, animal figurines, and abstract forms.
- Paint-A-Pot: These sessions allow students to bring their own characters and color palettes to life on pre-fired or hand-built clay.
Why Start Your Own Journey?
It does not matter if you have never held clay before. Most of the 'Naughty Girl' sculptures, minion figurines, and deep-blue luminaries featured here were crafted by people who were nervous about their first day. We provide the guidance, the kiln firing services, and the space; you bring the imagination. Whether you are looking for a weekend hobby at our Kodathi Gate studio or a more serious path into ceramic art, your first piece is waiting to be shaped.
The Janbo
I am Madhumita, and The Janbo is my heart. I started this space to share the quiet peace I found in clay, and seeing my students discover that same magic is the best part of my day. Whether you are looking for a creative escape or a new skill, I am here to help you get your hands dirty and find your own flow.
