This trio of hand-built cups showcases the incredible detail and texture our Foundation course students learn to create. The intricate sgraffito patterns demonstrate a mastery of surface decoration and a unique artistic voice.

A closer look at the sgraffito-decorated cups from our Foundation course. Each line is carefully carved to reveal the clay body underneath, creating a striking contrast and a tactile quality that makes each piece special.

A collection of pieces from our Foundation course students, reflecting months of immersion in the world of clay. This video shows a variety of forms and finishes, from rustic, earthy vases to delicate, painted bowls.

These two wheel-thrown vases, with their beautiful, earthy glaze and classic forms, were made by students in our Foundation course. They reflect a journey of experimenting, shaping, and expressing through form and texture.

This mushroom-shaped vase with a heavily textured, volcanic glaze is a wonderful example of the experimental work our students produce. It's a celebration of unique forms and the unpredictable beauty of glazing.

This powerful sculpture, "The Arm of a Western Hoolock Gibbon," was created by one of our foundation students. It tells the tragic true story of Kalia, the Lost Gibbon of Assam, and stands as a statement on ecosystem loss and animal abuse.

About Creations From Our Studio

Most of the pieces you see here started as raw, messy clay on a Shimpo wheel. Our foundation students spent months learning to control that clay, from throwing simple cylinders to complex surface decoration like sgraffito, before finally glazing and firing their own finished collection for our annual exhibition.
