The Why Behind Your Yoga Practice
Yoga is not just about postures. It is about creating a process that sustains you, even when life gets busy. Here is the perspective I bring to every session.
A common question I get is, "Do I have to be flexible to do yoga?". The simple answer is no. Flexibility is not a prerequisite, but a result of consistent practice. With daily yoga, you will gain both strength and flexibility over time.
A powerful reminder from Sadhguru to never compromise the fire of sadhana. I went through my own "mumbo jumbo" phase of doubt, but all I know now is to keep the practices on. This is the one thing I can do, and so this I will do.
Sadhguru explains the difference between prayer and meditation. Meditation is when you understand your limitations and just shut up. If you can become silent on all levels, everything that needs to happen for your growth will happen.
What does it mean to be a presence? Sadhguru talks about sitting without any sense of personality, just as a presence. This is a simple practice you can try every day, starting with just a few minutes, to feel the overwhelming presence of life itself.
Everything can be sadhana. As Sadhguru says, it is not a specific activity, but using everything you do, from eating to breathing, as a tool for your wellbeing.
A simple and beautiful teaching from Sadhguru. If you hold namaskar and look upon someone or something with loving attention, you will begin to harmonize with it. This was one of the first things that touched me on this path.
About The 'Why' Behind the Practice
A question I get asked all the time is whether you need to be flexible to start. Honestly, no. Flexibility is not a prerequisite to start, but rather a byproduct of doing the work consistently. Think of it less like a performance and more like brushing your teeth. You do not wait for your teeth to be perfectly clean before you start brushing; you brush to keep them clean. My role is simply to help you build that habit so it feels natural, not like a chore.
I did not start this path out of some grand spiritual ambition. I was knee-deep in a corporate IT job, chasing deadlines, and yoga was just something I stumbled upon. For a long time, it felt like mumbo jumbo to me. I would start, stop, feel frustrated, and then come back to it. That struggle is real, and it is part of the process.
The 'Why' is not about achieving a perfect posture or looking a certain way. It is about creating a sadhana (practice) that actually fits your life. Whether you are joining my 11-day Arogyam online workshop or our in-person women’s wellness sessions in JP Nagar, my goal is simple: to help you make this a natural, sustainable habit. You do not need to change your entire life overnight. We focus on small, actionable shifts—like how you breathe, how you eat, and how you sit—that eventually change how you exist in the world. Yoga works, but only for those who show up and do the practice. Let me help you make that first step easier.
