Responding to Armed Threats and Knife Defense

This is not a sport. When a weapon is involved, your survival depends on speed, mindset, and reacting without panic.

When an attacker comes at you with a knife, your first move is survival. I demonstrate how to sidestep the attack, deflect the weapon, and immediately counter. In self-defense, there are no rules; you do what is necessary to get home safe.

This video shows a defense against an overhead knife attack. The technique involves capturing the weapon arm, using your body weight to turn, and applying a shoulder lock to control the attacker. Proper positioning can neutralize a much stronger opponent.

About Responding to Armed Threats

When a weapon is involved, your first reaction is often to freeze. My training removes this hesitation by teaching you how to sidestep, deflect, and immediately counter before the attacker regains their balance. We do not train for points or competition here; we train for survival using techniques that rely on speed and body mechanics rather than brute strength.

In these sessions, we break down the reality of a threat. You are not trying to disarm someone to win a fight; you are trying to create a split-second window of safety to escape. Ghabrana nahi hai (don't panic). If your mind freezes, your body fails.

My Approach to Weapon Defense

  • Deflection over Resistance: Trying to grab a knife is dangerous. We focus on deflecting the limb, using the attacker's momentum against them.
  • Vital Point Striking: If you are physically matched or outmatched, we target vulnerabilities like the neck or joints to break the hold and run.
  • The Mindset: Taekwondo is about discipline. We teach you to maintain calm under pressure, which is vital when faced with a weapon.
  • Real-World Scenarios: We simulate realistic threats, from elevator corners to street encounters, so you know exactly how to move in tight spaces.

Whether you are attending a session at my Malad West dojang or booking a corporate seminar for your office, the training remains the same. You need practical, repeatable reactions that work when adrenaline is high. I teach you how to use your environment, stay off the center line, and get home safely.
