Spiritual Travels: Finding Balance Beyond the Yoga Mat
Travel is a form of sadhana for me. Here is a glimpse into the ashrams and sacred sites that helped me reconnect with myself when I needed it most.
If you're always complaining, take a break and go live in an ashram for a week. Skip the luxury resort. The simple food, daily meditation, and seva (selfless service) will bring you a joy that no resort can offer.
Five days at an ashram taught me about yoga beyond the poses. This is a selfie from my time at Isha Foundation, feeling transformed.
Looking inwards is liberating. This was a key lesson from my five days at the Isha Foundation ashram in Coimbatore.
Selfless service dissolves the ego. At the ashram, I learned that true yoga is a lifestyle rooted in discipline, surrender, and inner clarity.
We're designed for connection, with nature and with ourselves. The ashram environment, surrounded by nature, helps you reconnect.
Discipline reveals inner freedom. This was another powerful lesson from my time at Isha.
Surrender is empowering, not weak. The magnificent Adiyogi statue is a constant reminder of this truth.
Har Har Mahadev! Walking towards the Adiyogi statue at the Isha Foundation. A truly powerful and humbling experience.
Going to a place that heals me. Ganga Maa healing me. There is nothing like the healing energy of the Ganga in Rishikesh.
This year has been a blessing, allowing me to explore my spiritual journey from Rishikesh and Haridwar to Vaishno Devi and now Kashi (Banaras).
About My Spiritual Travels
I don't travel for luxury resorts or the perfect photo. I visit ashrams and sacred sites to practice discipline, offer seva, and get out of my own head. If you are feeling stuck in a rut, changing your environment to one of stillness might be the reset you need, not another gym session.
Beyond the Tourist Trail
Whether it is the grounding energy of the Dhyanalinga at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore or the healing flow of the Ganga in Rishikesh, these journeys form the backbone of my personal practice.
We spend so much time running after material goals that we lose touch with the simple act of existing. When I visited an ashram, I didn't go for a vacation. I went to live simply. I meditated, ate basic meals, and performed seva. It was not always comfortable. Sometimes it was tiring and annoying. But that resistance is exactly where the internal work happens.
Where I Find Stillness
- Isha Foundation (Coimbatore): A powerful space for silence and connecting with nature. It taught me that surrender is not weakness; it is a quiet form of strength.
- Rishikesh & Haridwar: The energy here is undeniable. Being near the Ganga isn't just about rituals; it is a visceral experience of letting go.
- Banaras (Kashi): A city that forces you to face life and death simultaneously. It is the best place to find perspective when you feel lost.
- Kasar Devi: A high-energy spot in Uttarakhand where meditation feels effortless.
If you want to understand how to bring that ashram-like discipline into your daily life at home, or if you need guidance on your own spiritual path, message me. Let’s talk about how you can find your own center, one step at a time.
