Costume Styling for Web Series and OTT

About Costume Styling: Disney+ Hotstar Series 'UNSORTED'
Getting the costume right for a web series isn't just about picking nice outfits. It involves rigorous costume trials where we test how fabrics move under lighting and whether the silhouette truly captures a character's emotional arc. When I styled for 'UNSORTED', these sessions were vital to ensure that every choice, from Sehar's everyday casuals to festive looks, felt authentic to the script.
When I step into the role of a costume stylist for an OTT series, the goal is simple but demanding: the clothes must help the audience understand who the character is before they even speak. For 'UNSORTED' on Disney+ Hotstar, this meant creating a visual evolution for characters like Tara, Sehar, and Sunny.
The process starts long before the cameras roll. It begins with a deep dive into the script, followed by mood boarding where we define the colour palette and textural identity for every lead role. We then move into extensive costume trials. These aren't just fittings; they are practical stress tests. We check how a specific fabric reacts to studio lighting, how it drapes when an actor sits or runs, and crucially, how it maintains continuity across different scenes.
On-set, my role shifts to wardrobe management. Maintaining continuity is a massive part of the job. Whether it's tracking accessories for a transition scene or ensuring that a shirt tuck remains consistent between takes, the attention to detail is non-negotiable. I use an emergency kit filled with fashion tape, pins, and quick-fix tools because, on a set, things go wrong quickly. If you're planning a web series, digital film, or a brand commercial and need a stylist who understands both the creative vision and the logistical chaos of a shoot, let’s talk.
