About Commercial & Ad Film Styling
On a busy film set, the wardrobe is only as good as its continuity. I make it a point to sit by the monitor, checking every tuck, accessory, and sleeve between takes so your footage stays consistent, whether we are shooting for four hours or fourteen.
My Approach to Commercial Styling
Styling for the screen is different from styling for a still image. It requires a deep understanding of movement, lighting, and narrative arc. My process starts long before the cameras roll.
The Pre-Production Phase
- Script Breakdown: I begin by reading your script multiple times to map out character arcs. A character's internal journey should reflect in their clothing choices.
- Moodboarding & Trials: Before we reach the set, we lock in the vision. I conduct costume trials to ensure every piece fits perfectly and, more importantly, that the actor is comfortable enough to move and act naturally.
On-Set Execution
- Continuity Management: This is where most shoots hit a snag. I monitor everything from the way a collar sits to the placement of jewelry across different takes. This saves hours in the edit room.
- The Emergency Kit: Scripts change, accidents happen, and wardrobe malfunctions are real. I always have a fully stocked kit with safety pins, fashion tape, stain removers, and basic sewing tools to handle any last-minute fix instantly.
Why Work With Me?
I treat every project as if it were my own. Whether it's an automotive commercial for Suzuki or a lifestyle ad for SanDisk, I don't just pick outfits. I ensure the look aligns with your brand's voice and the director's vision. My background as an educator means I am used to explaining why a particular look works, which helps in getting the whole production team on the same page quickly. If you have a campaign in mind, let’s discuss the vibe you are aiming for.
