Costume Design and Fashion Styling Portfolio
A look into how I translate scripts into visual reality. This selection of work spans my 16-year journey across film, advertising, and editorial styling.
A visual exploration of duality for an ABP Studios campaign. By splitting the subject into traditionally masculine and feminine halves, I used costume, hair, and makeup to challenge perceptions and tell a complex story in a single, striking image.
This is the complete character breakdown for an Infinix ad campaign. I designed this layered, weathered look from all angles to build a believable persona, ensuring every detail from the worn jacket to the dirt-stained trousers contributed to his backstory.
A moment of freedom from the music video 'MANNIPU'. I designed these flowing, earthy garments to interact with movement and nature, using simple silhouettes and natural fabrics to enhance the scene's emotional and organic feel.
For this ABP Studios campaign, the concept was to use color as a raw, overwhelming force. The simple, toga-like drapes on the performers ensure the focus remains on the dramatic explosion of red powder, creating a powerful and symbolic visual.
Recreating the iconic glamour of the Roaring Twenties for a 'Great Gatsby' themed shoot. This look features a classic flapper-style headpiece with feathers, delicate lace gloves, and period-appropriate lingerie to transport the viewer back to 1925.
A scene from the feature film 'Lalanna’s Song'. The costuming here is intentionally subtle and character-driven, using simple headscarves and dark, modest clothing to reflect the characters' inner worlds and the story's grounded, realistic tone.
Every design begins with a vision. This is a quick pencil sketch I made on set, capturing the team observing a shot on the monitor. For me, costume design is deeply integrated with the entire filmmaking process.
About Featured
My process is grounded in the script long before I touch a fabric. Whether I am weathering a jacket for a commercial to make a character feel lived-in or sourcing traditional mundus for a film, the goal is always narrative authenticity. I don't just style the actor; I build the character's history through their wardrobe so the camera captures the truth of the story.
From Concept to Screen
Every project I take on, whether a feature film like Lalanna’s Song or a high-concept ad campaign for ABP Studios, follows a rigorous process. It begins with sketches and long, open discussions with the director to align on the visual tone. I believe that costume design is a form of silent storytelling; if the clothes don't support the narrative, they are just fabric.
Technical Execution
My work often involves technical garment manipulation. For character-driven roles, I specialize in fabric aging, dyeing, and distressing. By texturing a jacket or altering the drape of a shirt, I can visually communicate a character's socioeconomic background or emotional state without a line of dialogue. When I work on music videos, the approach shifts to movement optimization, ensuring that what a performer wears enhances their dance and energy rather than restricting it.
Collaboration and Continuity
Nothing happens in isolation. I manage a full costume unit—from pre-production script breakdown to on-set continuity—working closely with DOPs and production designers to ensure the color palette is consistent across every frame. Whether I am sourcing textiles from Mumbai’s Mangaldas Market or coordinating talent fittings, my priority is maintaining visual continuity throughout the non-linear shooting schedules typical of film productions. I treat every project as a partnership, ensuring my team, the actors, and the production crew are all moving in the same creative direction.
