Holiday Home Designs for Rest and Solace
A holiday home should feel like a sigh of relief. I design these retreats to act as your personal sanctuary, balancing open, tropical layouts with quiet corners where you can simply unwind.
The exterior of our 'Sand Tales' villa in Goa, a home designed for peace and solace. The classic architecture with arches and a terrace overlooks a private pool, creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor living spaces. It's a true escape from the madness of a fast-paced city.
A cozy swing is nestled under an archway in this Goa villa, creating the perfect spot to relax. We believe in creating these intimate corners in our holiday homes, using elements like a wooden swing, a patterned rug, and soft cushions to invite moments of quiet contemplation.
The dreamy master bedroom in our Goa project, featuring a four-poster bed draped with soft, buttery curtains. The tropical theme is carried through with a cool color palette and natural textures, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere.
A close-up of the master bedroom, where a breakfast tray sits on the bed. The mood board for this holiday home included themes of sun and waves, which we translated into a palette of blues, yellows, and greens, and soft, natural textiles.
This bedroom in our Goa villa is styled with a coastal theme. The mood board included tropical motifs, reflected in the blue and white bedding, starfish decor in the wall niches, and light, airy curtains. It's a bright and cheerful space designed for a holiday mindset.
We introduce intimate, warm corners in obscure spaces of the villa. This cozy armchair, with its ikat-patterned upholstery and plush cushions, creates a perfect reading nook bathed in natural sunlight. It’s these small moments that make a house feel like a home.
Another view of a warm corner space in the Goa villa. A comfortable sofa is dressed with a bright yellow throw and patterned cushions, set against a window that lets in the beautiful tropical light. These spaces are designed for unwinding and enjoying the slow pace of holiday life.
The dining area of the Goa villa showcases our belief in using materials that coexist with their context. The space features a stone dining table, black rattan chairs, and reclaimed wood, all under beautiful woven pendant lights. The flooring is a cool-to-touch Shahbad stone, perfect for the climate.
A cast in-situ bar table in grey concrete becomes a focal point on the verandah. Paired with cane chairs and matching cane hanging lights, it sets a relaxed and stylish mood for an evening drink by the pool.
Sun, sand, beach, and pools. This close-up captures the essence of our Goa holiday home projects. A comfortable outdoor sofa by the pool is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea and soak in the tropical atmosphere.
About Holiday Homes: Escapes from the Everyday
For holiday homes, I prioritize a seamless transition between the indoors and the landscape. In my Goa projects, this involves selecting climate-responsive materials like cool-to-touch Shahbad stone and natural rattan, and carving out specific, intimate 'pause' zones—like a private verandah bar or a corner reading nook—that force the city's pace to stop.
Designing Your Escape
When I design a holiday home, the goal isn't just a change of scenery. It is about creating a vessel for a different kind of living. My work begins by listening to the land. Whether it is a villa facing the sea or a quiet retreat tucked away, I look for how the light moves through the day and how the breeze travels through the rooms.
Materiality and the Tropical Context
I prefer materials that age with the home, gaining character rather than wearing out. I use Shahbad stone for flooring because it remains cool underfoot, even in tropical heat. My furniture choices lean into reclaimed wood and custom rattan, working with local artisans to ensure every piece feels connected to its surroundings. This is not about showroom perfection; it is about tactile, honest beauty.
Spaces for Rituals
Holiday living is defined by rituals—the morning coffee, the afternoon read, the evening sundowner. I do not just design floor plans; I design these moments. You will often find my floor plans include:
- Intimate Pause Points: Small nooks with comfortable armchairs placed where the natural light is just right.
- Indoor-Outdoor Flow: Large openings and verandahs that allow the living room to spill out into the garden or pool area.
- Custom Features: From four-poster beds draped in soft, breathable fabrics to bespoke bar counters made of concrete and cane, everything is crafted to encourage you to slow down.
The Process
My approach is highly collaborative and rooted in mood boarding. We start with the feeling you want to capture—be it the sun-drenched vibe of Goa or the quiet stillness of a hill retreat. From there, I build the space around focal points like murals, sculptural lighting, or panoramic window views, ensuring that your holiday home is not just a building, but a true departure from your everyday life.

I see architecture as a conversation between the land and the people living on it. Whether it is a villa in Goa or a getaway in the hills, I focus on building spaces that hold you gently, using raw materials that age beautifully with time.
