Commercial and Retail Interior Design
I design environments where architecture, atmosphere, and brand identity coalesce, guiding your customers from the moment they step through the door.
This is a glimpse into our 'Frozen' retail project, a space designed with a minimalist Zen philosophy. We used natural materials, patterns of light, and a near-monastic rejection of clutter to elevate simplicity into an art form. The concrete-finished columns create a powerful, rhythmic corridor.
From the foyer, one enters a mock-up living space within the 'Frozen' retail store. A chestnut leather sofa and a raw, burnt log bench are set against a moss-like wall texture, creating a surprising and earthy vignette within the larger zen-inspired design.
Another view of the living space vignette in the 'Frozen' store. The design uses a dramatic red rug to anchor the seating area, which includes a raw burnt log bench. This space is designed to showcase products in a context that is both aspirational and artistic.
At the entrance of the 'Frozen' store, visitors are greeted by a 12-foot-tall copper-clad door. The monumental scale of the door visually heightens the space and sets a dramatic, intriguing tone for the retail experience that lies within.
A closer look at the entrance of the 'Frozen' store, where the massive copper door stands next to a triad of stones, part of a central installation. The design immediately immerses the visitor in a world of texture, scale, and zen-like calm.

The design of 'Frozen' is a modern interpretation of Zen gardens. We carefully curated rocks, moss, and pebbles, arranging them in a concentric manner to represent serenity. The space invites visitors to wander and discover, creating a meditative retail journey.
The 'Frozen' store is divided by partitions that create Zen garden-like zones. These spaces allow visitors to walk around and experience the installations from all sides, encouraging casual strolling and discovery.
Wander, Find, Discover. This image captures the essence of the 'Frozen' retail experience. The design uses corridors and glimpses into other zones to create a sense of mystery and curiosity, encouraging exploration.
The Zen garden spaces in the 'Frozen' store each contain a unique, obscure object, like this hanging textile art. These elements create curiosity and conversation, turning a retail space into a gallery of interesting forms and textures.
About Commercial & Retail Design
When designing for business, I treat circulation as a choreography. In our 'Frozen' retail project, we utilized volume, light, and texture to curate a journey rather than just a store, ensuring the layout naturally guides customers to wander and discover. A commercial space must be an extension of your brand identity, and my focus is on sculpting that movement to make every client interaction meaningful.
Architecture as a Brand Narrative
Design is not merely about square footage. In both retail and commercial projects, I look for the story hidden within the brief. A law office like 'Shadows' requires a different cadence than a zen-inspired retail boutique like 'Frozen'.
Designing for Movement
In retail design, we focus on the customer journey. We manipulate partition heights and focal points to create a sequence of discovery. By integrating natural materials like textured stone and copper, we ground the space, giving the products a tactile backdrop that feels intentional and calm.
Professional Atmosphere
For commercial offices, the objective is to balance formality with human-centric design. We move away from the sterility of traditional setups by using light-play and material depth—dark tones against refined lighting, for instance—to create an atmosphere that communicates authority without feeling cold.
Whether you are looking to revitalize a boutique, define a high-end office layout, or create an immersive showroom, I work to ensure the space does the heavy lifting for your business.
Studio Nishita Kamdar
I view every retail outlet or office as a stage for human interaction. My goal is to build spaces where the architecture subtly reinforces your brand, whether that means creating a meditative, minimalist path for a retail shopper or a sophisticated, gravity-grounded atmosphere for your firm.
