Boutique and Nature Resort Architecture
Designing retreats where architecture blends seamlessly with the natural landscape and local terrain.
This aerial view captures the essence of the Atmanya resort in Goa, where individual villas are nestled within dense tropical foliage along the river, offering guests both privacy and a deep connection to nature.
A closer look at the villas at Atmanya, showcasing multi-level structures with large windows and balconies. The design uses natural materials to blend seamlessly with the surrounding forest environment.
The stepped seating of the open-air amphitheater at Atmanya is integrated into the landscape. This space, featuring brick pillars with climbing vines, is designed for relaxation and communal gatherings.
A render for a proposed 70-key boutique hotel nestled in a hilly landscape. The design features clean lines and terraced levels that follow the natural contour of the land, maximizing views and minimizing environmental impact.
About Boutique & Nature Resorts
We approach resort design by starting with drone-based contour analysis to understand the land’s natural slopes. This allows us to integrate villa layouts and guest spaces into the existing topography, which significantly reduces excavation costs and keeps the natural vegetation intact.
Our Approach to Nature-Centric Hospitality
Resort design demands a distinct set of priorities compared to urban high-rises. When we take on a project in a natural setting, like our work at the Atmanya resort in Goa, our primary objective is to make the architecture an extension of the site rather than a disruption to it.
Precision in Planning
We use drone-based surveys to map the exact contours of the land. This data dictates our master planning, allowing us to place structures where they naturally fit rather than flattening the site. By working with the existing slopes, we manage to preserve natural forest cover and water drainage paths, which often results in lower construction costs regarding site preparation.
Integrating Local Context
We believe hospitality design should reflect the region. In Goa, we prioritize ventilation and material choices that handle the tropical climate, while in hill-station projects, we focus on thermal performance and views. We create spaces that allow guests to feel the outside environment from within, using large windows and transitional areas that blur the line between the built structure and nature.
Visualization and Compliance
Before breaking ground, we provide full VR walkthroughs of our designs. This allows clients to experience the scale and flow of guest rooms and public areas, ensuring that the final layout meets the required commercial efficiency. We also design with IGBC sustainability standards in mind, focusing on natural light maximization, solar-passive design, and water-efficient systems to ensure the property is environmentally responsible and operationally efficient.
