Design Concepts & Architectural Storytelling
I treat every space as a narrative waiting to be written. Explore how I translate abstract ideas into physical realities.
"A Walk in My Garden" was an exhibition space we designed to be an immersive, dream-like experience. This video takes you through the soft, sandy pathway, past mountain dunes and pebble-strewn floors, into a world of wisterias and wonder. It is a poem built in space.
A visualization of 'The Red Haus', a villa project in Lonavala. The design features a double-height living room and an open layout, creating a seamless and transparent connection between the indoor spaces and the lush landscape outside.
Of evening sunsets, coffee, and bougainvilleas. This render shows the terrace of 'The Red Haus', a space designed to bring people together. The design focuses on creating picturesque moments and framing the beautiful natural surroundings.
This video for 'The Red Haus' shows how the house is designed to look inside out. The multiple styles of openings and large windows frame the lush landscape, making the natural world a constant, picturesque presence within the home.
About Design Concepts & Exhibitions
My conceptual process begins long before a blueprint is drawn. I sketch stories, not just walls. For projects like my exhibition design or the Red Haus villa, I start by identifying the emotional anchor, whether it is the play of light through a Lonavala window or the tactile sensation of a pebble-strewn pathway, to ensure the final space feels like a vivid, lived-in memory.
Conceptual design is where I bridge the gap between human experience and built environment. It is not about filling a room with objects, but about orchestrating a sequence of movements and feelings. When I designed 'A Walk in My Garden', the objective was to move away from static display and into the realm of experience. I used sand, pebbles, and light to create a path that encourages visitors to slow down, look, and engage with the space physically.
This same philosophy applies to residential work, such as 'The Red Haus' in Lonavala. My approach here focused on permeability and transparency. By studying how the sun moves across the landscape, I designed a layout where the house looks inside out. The double-height living room and strategically placed openings frame the exterior scenery, making the natural world an active participant in the home's daily rhythm.
I view every project as a unique opportunity to define a space by what it makes you feel. Whether it is the quiet solitude of a bedroom or the social hum of a living area, I focus on the connection between your needs and the reality of the site. If you have an empty plot or an existing structure that feels disconnected from its potential, we can start by identifying the story you want that space to tell.
Studio Nishita Kamdar
I see architecture as the harmony between thought and execution. Whether I am mapping out a dream villa in Lonavala or an immersive exhibition space, my goal remains constant: to design a setting that allows you to pause, breathe, and simply be.
