About Custom Furniture Design
Why Furniture Matters to Us
Home should feel like a sanctuary - that’s always been our starting point. I see furniture as more than just stuff you put in a room. Each piece can help create a pause, some calm, and a sense of rootedness even if you’re living in the middle of a busy city.
How We Design
I get into the details - the way materials feel, how a sofa fits into the flow of a space, or how a cabinet makes a corner useful. For me, the look and feel are always connected to the story of your home. Furniture should fit in naturally, not stick out awkwardly.
- I love working with natural material furniture like teak, oak, marble, cane, and rattan. You’ll see a lot of handwoven textures, smooth stone, and warm wood finishes in my work.
- Craft matters. I’m a bit obsessed with getting the joinery right and making sure every piece is solid and built to last.
- Everything is custom - you won’t find ready-made stuff here. I design seating, tables, storage, and beds that are tailored for your space and style.
What I Can Make
- Bespoke wood furniture like armchairs and dining tables
- Handcrafted home pieces - window seats, bookcases, and kitchen cabinetry
- Custom storage solutions for wardrobes and vanities
- Low-profile beds and unique headboards
Collaboration
I always start by listening. We’ll work together on what you need, what works for your space, and what feels right for you. The aim? Furniture that feels like it really belongs in your home.

My Story
We’re SML Architects, right in the middle of Mumbai’s madness. For us, the city’s noise pushes us to chase the opposite: quiet, rooted homes. Mahek always says a house should be calm and reflective, not just a place but a retreat. Had our first magazine cover – wrote ‘Look Ma, Cover’ – felt special, not just for the hype, but because it meant people get what we’re trying to do. We build homes that let you slow down and breathe.
My Work
Architecture, Interior & Furniture Design - We design homes, interiors, and custom furniture, mostly for people who want a calm sanctuary.
Sanctuary Spaces - Our thing is meditative residential spaces, places that feel peaceful and connected to nature.
Natural Materials Obsessed - Teak wood furniture, natural stone interiors – we use honest materials for warmth and texture.
Details & Craft - Every corner, every washbasin, every wall edge gets our attention. We like things precise and soulful.
Art-Filled Homes - We love working with art collectors, making homes that double up as galleries for memories and objects.
