About Bespoke Seating: Armchairs, Sofas & Benches
When I design a piece of seating, I start with the frame. Whether it is a lounge chair for your reading nook or a bench for the entryway, I use solid teak and traditional mortise joinery. This ensures the chair lasts for generations and stands strong without relying on hidden nails or plastic components.
My approach to furniture is rooted in the idea that a chair is more than a place to sit. It is a tool for slowing down.
I am obsessed with the honesty of natural materials. You will find that my designs rely heavily on Central Province teak, hand-woven rattan, and high-density linen. When I design a sofa or an armchair, I consider the flow of the room, the quality of light hitting the corner, and how the furniture interacts with the architecture of your Mumbai home.
The Craft
Every piece of seating I create uses traditional joinery techniques. I avoid mass-market shortcuts. By using kiln-dried teak and proper mortise and tenon connections, the structure remains stable through changing humidity levels—a crucial detail for life in our city.
Designing for You
I do not offer ready-made catalog items. We start by discussing how you live. Do you need a reading chair that offers lumbar support for long afternoons? Are you looking for a window seat that integrates storage and allows you to look out at the trees? I design seating solutions that are tailored to your physical needs and the layout of your space.
From the weave of the cane to the finish of the wood, we define every detail together. My goal is to build pieces that feel like they have always belonged in your home.
