Creative Pottery Community Events and Open Studio Days
We believe clay is better shared. Join us for open studio mornings, tea ceremonies, and creative gatherings where the art is just the beginning of the conversation.
We regularly host Open Studio mornings where everyone is welcome. It's a chance to explore the space, see our work, and enjoy a slow morning with our community, often with a ceramics sale and live music.
We were so happy to host an Origami and Japanese Tea session with Junta San from the Shumei Mumbai Center. These events bring new energy and inspiration into our creative space.
The energy in the room was incredible during the Japanese Taiko drumming performance. Even on a rainy Mumbai day, our community showed up to share in this powerful experience.
A moment of gratitude during our Taiko and Tea event. Hosting these cultural gatherings is a way for us to appreciate art in all its forms and build a deeper sense of community.
About Studio Events & Gatherings
Our open studio mornings and community gatherings are not manicured events, but rather informal invitations to slow down. It’s a chance to walk into our Govandi studio, browse our latest handmade ceramics, listen to live music, or simply chat with fellow 'Clay Folk' over chai without the pressure of a structured workshop.
At Studio Karva, we see art as a catalyst for connection. While much of our time is spent at the wheel or the kiln, we love opening our doors for moments that go beyond production. Whether we are hosting a Japanese Taiko drumming session, a traditional tea ceremony with our friends from the Shumei Mumbai Center, or a simple Sunday sale, our goal is to keep the energy flowing and the studio feeling like a home.
Why We Host These Gatherings
- Community First: We aren't just a workspace; we are a collective. These events are the best way to meet the people who make our studio breathe.
- Cultural Exchange: From origami workshops to music performances, we enjoy bringing diverse art forms into our space to see how they intersect with ceramics.
- Open Access: Our Open Studio mornings are designed to be accessible. You don’t need to be a professional potter to join; you just need to be curious.
Failures and messy experiments are a big part of what we do, and we celebrate that openness in our events too. If you are looking for a place in Mumbai that values laughter and connection as much as craftsmanship, this is your home. Keep an eye on this space or reach out directly to see what we are planning next.
