When you join my classes at The Pink Lotus Academia in GK 2, we move beyond simple notes. We focus on the 'vazan'—the weight and depth of your sound—and micro-correcting your stroke angles to ensure your technique is solid from day one, preventing the common strain often caused by incorrect posture.
My approach to teaching is rooted in 'sadhana', or daily discipline. Learning the sitar is not just about memorizing a sequence of notes, it is a process of changing how you perceive sound and life itself. At my studio, we maintain a calm, acoustic-treated environment designed to help you focus on the nuances of your 'riyaz'.
I offer a range of learning formats designed to fit your life, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced player looking to refine your 'gayaki ang' (vocal style). We hold small group weekend sessions with a strict cap of six students, ensuring I can provide individual attention to everyone. For those with specific goals, such as preparing for AIR grading or overcoming technical barriers, I offer one-on-one private training where we work on rare compositions and 'tantrakari' techniques from the Bishnupur and Maihar lineages.
Accessibility is key to my teaching philosophy. If you cannot visit my studio in Delhi, my hybrid classes allow you to connect via Zoom without losing the essence of the instruction. I also conduct intensive workshops throughout the year for students worldwide, where we deep-dive into the bio-mechanics of right-hand weight distribution and the logic of raga improvisation. My goal is to build a community of learners who understand that music is a lifelong journey of persistence.
