The Pink Lotus Academia: A Haven for Classical Music
My studio in GK II is more than a teaching space; it is a dedicated environment designed for the pure, resonant sound of the sitar and the intimate connection of traditional baithak concerts.
I joyfully invite you to the 9th edition of Swaradhyay, an evening of Indian classical music presented by Rasa Siddhi at The Pink Lotus Academia, dedicated to the memory of Pt. Nikhil Banerjee and Shri Prashant Thakur.

A magical moment from our first "Ahangi Festival," honoring our chief guest, Pt. Jayant Kastuar. Events like these are at the heart of our mission to celebrate art and culture.

About The Pink Lotus Academia
This basement studio is acoustically treated to capture the true resonance of the sitar, which is why I prefer teaching and performing here. Unlike large, echoey halls, this space is built for the intimate baithak style, allowing you to hear the subtle nuances of every note clearly without artificial amplification.
When I started The Pink Lotus Academia, I wanted to create a place that felt like a sanctuary for the serious student and the discerning listener. Indian classical music is best experienced up close, where you can see the artist’s hand movements and feel the vibration of the strings. That is why I host 'baithak' style concerts—chamber settings where the distance between the artist and the audience is minimal.
Why the Environment Matters
Located in Greater Kailash/GK II location offers a quiet retreat from the city. The studio is air-conditioned with floor rugs provided for the traditional seating arrangement we use during classes and performances. We keep electronic tanpuras and tablas on hand, so you do not need to worry about bringing your own accompaniment equipment for your first few sessions.
For the Aspiring Student
Learning the sitar requires careful attention to 'vazan' (the weight of the note) and the 'meend' (gliding notes). In a controlled, acoustically treated space, you can distinguish these subtle textures much better than in a standard room.
Whether you are visiting for a weekly workshop or a weekend intensive, the environment is built to help you stay focused on your 'riyaz'. For those who cannot visit physically, the studio is wired for hybrid learning, with a real-time Zoom setup that maintains high-fidelity audio, so you get the same quality of instruction as someone sitting on the floor right in front of me.
