Real Grip Strength Training in Bengaluru
Tired of regular gym routines? Test your hands against Bangalore’s most brutal grip strength implements. From the square Saxon bar to our custom Anvil, this is where you build raw, functional power.
Think your big deadlift makes your grip strong? Think again. Here I am easily pulling 150kg on a double overhand axle bar deadlift. Then, watch me struggle with just 80kg on the Saxon bar. This shows that conventional lifts don't translate to specialized grip strength, which is what we build here.
My gym, Basebell, is the only place in Bangalore with this arsenal of grip tools. I use a grip dynamometer to get a hard number on your strength, not just guesswork. We have everything from adjustable grippers up to a 300 pound monster, gyro balls for wrist health, and the brutal anvil grip for a true test.
If you want to compete in my 2025 Grip Championship, you'll need to master three lifts. First, the Saxon bar deadlift, a square bar lift that tests your finger strength. Second, the double overhand axle bar deadlift, a thick bar lift that challenges your raw grip. Finally, the anvil grip, a vertical lift with a smooth cone that will humble you.
This is what real training looks like. It’s not always about hitting personal records. Here you can see me fail multiple times at 160kg and 150kg on the axle bar before finally succeeding with 140kg. I threw my ego out the window, dropped the weight, and got the work done. That’s the process.
This is the anvil grip lift, one of the toughest grip challenges out there. Here I am lifting 40kg with no chalk. The smooth, conical shape means you have to rely purely on your palm and finger pressure to get it off the ground. It looks simple, but it is brutally difficult.
Here’s a different kind of challenge for your pinch grip. I'm lifting two 25kg bumper plates together with a double overhand grip. This exercise specifically targets the strength of your thumbs and fingers, an area most people completely neglect in their training.
People see Basebell today and think it appeared overnight. This shows the reality. What you see now is a fully equipped strength studio. What you didn't see were the thousands of hours of planning, building, and trusting the process to create this place brick by brick.
I often host tryout days for my most unique equipment. This was an announcement for an Anvil and Saxon bar tryout, giving people a chance to come in and test their hands against these implements. If you're curious, keep an eye out for the next one.
About Featured
Forget what your deadlift PR tells you. Most standard gyms neglect the hands, but here we isolate your pinch and crush strength using specific tools like the Saxon bar and the conical Anvil. We start every session with a digital dynamometer test, so your progress is tracked by concrete data, not guesswork.
If your forearms give out before your back during a deadlift, you have a weak link. At Basebell in Kalyan Nagar, we fix that. Most gyms rely on straps or mixed grips that hide your deficiencies. We force you to train raw with an arsenal you won't find anywhere else in Bangalore.
The Science of the Grip
We focus on three primary types of grip strength:
- Crush: Built using heavy-duty, adjustable grippers that go up to 300lbs.
- Pinch: Developed with our square Saxon bar, which challenges finger strength in ways a round barbell never could.
- Support: Trained via the thick-handled Axle bar, which lacks knurling and forces your hands to do all the work.
Why Specialized Equipment Matters
The Anvil grip test is our ultimate yardstick. Because it is a smooth, solid metal cone, you cannot rely on friction or chalk. It requires pure, consistent palm and finger pressure to lock out the weight.
We don't just throw you on the equipment and wish you luck. Whether you are a desk job professional looking to fix tennis elbow with gyro balls or an athlete training for our 2025 Grip Championship, we provide the technique correction to ensure you are training safely and effectively. We treat grip strength as a skill, not just a way to add weight to the bar.
