Specialized Grip Training & Tools at Basebell
Most gyms ignore forearm development, but your strength starts with your hands. We use specialized tools like the Saxon bar and dynamometers to measure, track, and build real grip power.
You are only as strong as your grip. Here I am closing a 200lb gripper. I never trained my forearms for size, only for strength, and the results are clear. Consistent work with grippers and fat grips has paid off.
I am proud to say we are the only gym in Bangalore with this variety of grip equipment. We have a dynamometer for testing, grippers of all strengths, gyro balls for treating issues like tennis elbow, and fat grips to make any exercise a grip challenge.
This double plate pinch lift is a pure test of finger and thumb strength. You grab two 25kg bumper plates smooth-side-out and lift them to a full lockout. It's a simple setup that builds a type of grip strength you can't get from a barbell.
The 15kg plate flip. This exercise looks simple, but it requires significant wrist and finger strength to catch and control the plate as it flips. It's another great way we build functional, real-world grip.
About Specialized Grip Tools & Exercises
The Saxon bar is a square, pinch-grip implement that exposes every weakness in your forearm. It is humbling, painful, and exactly what you need if you have plateaued on standard barbell lifts. We don't guess your progress here, we track it with a dynamometer to ensure your training actually moves the needle.
If you are bored of standard gym routines, you are in the right place. At Basebell, we treat grip as the foundation of your performance, not an afterthought.
The Tools We Use
We have built a dedicated space in Kalyan Nagar that houses equipment you will not find elsewhere in the city:
- The Saxon Bar: A rectangular bar that demands a pure pinch grip. It forces your thumb and fingers to work in isolation, removing the mechanical advantage of a standard round bar.
- The Anvil Grip: Inspired by old-school blacksmith work, this tests your ability to stabilize objects with a conical surface. It is brutal, and it builds functional palm strength.
- The Axle Bar: A 2-inch thick bar with no knurling. When you deadlift with this, your grip is the only thing keeping the weight in your hands. It makes standard barbell work look easy.
- Dynamometer Testing: We stop the guesswork on day one. We test your grip strength digitally to establish baselines, identify left-right imbalances, and track your improvement over weeks.
- Recovery Tools: We use gyro balls and extensor bands to manage tendon health. This is how you build a body that lasts, not just one that looks good for a photo.
Whether you are an athlete looking for an edge, or someone tired of their forearms failing before their back, these tools are how you break the mold. We run open tryout days for our specialized equipment, so you can test yourself against our grip standards.
