Interior Design Materials & Finishing Details
Beautiful homes are built on small, smart decisions. This is where we break down the materials, hardware, and finishes that make your space functional and long-lasting.
The process of selecting the perfect handles for our modular furniture. Every detail, no matter how small, is chosen to complement the overall design aesthetic.
About Additional Work & Details
When I walk through a showroom with a client, I am looking for more than just a good color match. I check the weight of the hardware, the edge banding quality, and how the material reacts to moisture. It is these small choices that stop a drawer from sagging or a handle from losing its finish after two years of daily use.
Our approach to material selection goes beyond what looks good in a 3D render. For us, a finish is only as good as its durability in our local climate.
Why Material Selection Matters
- Moisture Resistance: In Bengaluru, managing humidity is a priority. We prefer BWP (Boiling Water Proof) plywood for wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms to prevent swelling and warping over time.
- Hardware Longevity: We often recommend brands like Hettich or Hafele for kitchen systems. While they cost slightly more upfront, the soft-close mechanisms and load-bearing capacity provide peace of mind for years.
- Surface Finishes: From high-gloss laminates to PU coats, we help you choose based on maintenance. High-gloss looks stunning but shows fingerprints; acrylic is easier to clean; matte laminates offer a modern, understated aesthetic that hides dust better.
The Process of Detail
Choosing these elements is part of our design-build philosophy. We do not just show you catalogs; we explain the pros and cons of different laminates, veneers, and edge banding techniques. We want you to understand exactly what goes into your home, from the thickness of your wardrobe shutters to the type of wire used behind your switchboards. Our goal is to ensure that when we hand over the keys, you are not just getting a pretty space, but one that is built to endure.
SILA Architects
I am Rohith Krishna, and I believe architecture is about more than just structural integrity. We focus on the small things, like the weight of a handle or the finish of a laminate, because that is where your daily life happens.
