Joyful Indian Classical Music Classes for Kids
Music is a feeling, not a lesson. We create cozy, playful environments in Bengaluru where children discover the magic of Shastriya Sangeet through hands-on exploration.
An interactive session in full swing. Our students gather around to learn from a visiting artist, absorbing the rhythms of the harmonium and tabla in a fun, group setting.
Look at that focus. Our classes are designed to captivate young minds, creating an environment where children listen intently and develop a deep appreciation for Raag Sangeet.
The connection between a guru and a student is at the core of our tradition. I cherish these one-on-one moments, sharing the beauty of the veena and seeing a child's face light up with understanding and joy.
A beautiful moment from one of our sessions. We often invite talented musicians to perform for the children, giving them an authentic and inspiring concert experience right in our classroom.
Confidence in the making. Here, a young student proudly shares her work with her friends. We encourage every child to find their voice and express themselves freely.
Our community extends across the globe. This collage shows the happy faces from our online classes, where we bring the same interactive and engaging musical experience to children everywhere.
Our students are always practicing and sharing their progress. This video shows our ShrotaHouse champs from around the world doing their daily 'riyaaz' with enthusiasm.
About this collection
In our sessions, children don't just sit and watch. We put instruments like the tabla and veena right into their hands, teaching them to listen, feel the laya (rhythm), and express themselves through music long before they try to memorize complex notes.
At ShrotaHouse, we believe that early childhood music education should be as natural as breathing. Our 'Joyful Classrooms' in Bengaluru move away from traditional, rigid teaching methods. Instead, we use storytelling, movement, and supervised instrument exploration to introduce Hindustani and Carnatic music to children aged 3 to 8.
We understand that young children learn best through play. Whether it is a toddler tapping on a tabla or a 6-year-old exploring the strings of a sitar, the goal is curiosity. We host these sessions in small, intimate batches in JP Nagar and via home visits across Bengaluru, ensuring every child receives individual attention.
Parents, you are not just observers here. We encourage you to join in, especially during our special workshops or when we explore the Wonderful Vaadya project. Watching your child develop a relationship with traditional instruments—from the jaltarang to the harmonium—is a bonding experience that extends well beyond our classroom walls.
Our curriculum focuses on aptitude and enjoyment. We evaluate natural inclination toward swara (notes) and laya during our initial Discovery Trial, ensuring each child finds a musical path that excites them. We are not just building students; we are creating a family of little Shrotas who will carry the love for our musical heritage for years to come. Whether your child is just starting or is ready for a 10-week Explorer Term, our doors are open.
