Bring your child to explore the magic of Indian classical music. In our Wonderful Vaadya workshops, they don't just listen—they touch, feel, and play real instruments like the tabla, sitar, and jaltarang.

Focus, awe, and expertise. Our workshops bring children face-to-face with master musicians and their instruments, like the mridangam, for an unforgettable learning experience.

A proud moment for our Jaltarang camp graduates. This unique kid-parent workshop was a week of lively, energetic learning, culminating in this happy group photo with their certificates.

Our Jaltarang camp is a wonderful bonding activity. Here, fathers and sons learn to create music together, exploring the unique sounds of the water-filled bowls.

The intense curiosity of our little Shrotas as they gather around musician Pranav Rao to learn about the surbahar, a bass sitar. These moments of discovery are truly priceless.

A young girl gets her first lesson on the violin. Our workshops provide a safe and encouraging space for children to try new instruments with guidance from our team.

Children and parents trying their hand at the Jaltarang. This ancient instrument, which uses ceramic bowls filled with water, offers a magical way to learn about musical notes.

More happy faces from our Jaltarang camp. We love seeing children and their parents completely absorbed in the process of making music together.

About this collection

In our workshops, we trade chairs for floor-seating to keep the experience grounded. This creates a relaxed space where your child isn't just watching—they are actively touching, holding, and playing instruments like the mridangam or jaltarang. It’s about letting them experience the vibration of the strings and the texture of the instruments firsthand, effectively removing the intimidation factor often associated with classical music learning.

We believe that for children, understanding music starts with physical connection. In our 'Wonderful Vaadya' sessions, the goal is simple: to make Indian classical music feel like a playground rather than a syllabus. By rotating professional instruments like the bansuri, sitar, and ghatam, we invite children to explore sound through movement and experimentation.

Why Tactile Learning Matters

Most music education focuses on theory, but we prioritize the sensory experience. Whether it is feeling the bass of a tabla or the cooling water of a jaltarang, these tangible interactions create an immediate, joyous bond between the child and the instrument. We keep the groups small to ensure every child gets enough time to hold and play the equipment under the guidance of our patient instructors.

A Family Affair

We encourage parents to join in. Music is a language, and learning it together turns the workshop into a shared family milestone. You will find that our floor-seating format encourages a communal 'Shrotagan' atmosphere where laughter and curiosity are more important than hitting every note perfectly. If you are in JP Nagar or looking for sessions across Bengaluru, our workshops are designed to be an inclusive introduction for kids aged 3 to 8, though we believe anyone with a curious heart will find something to love here.

I'm Madhumita, and for me, Indian classical music is home. I started ShrotaHouse to share that feeling with the next generation. We are building a family—a Shrotagan—where curiosity is the only curriculum and music is just the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
