About Celebrating Our Students' Success
Competition yoga demands more than just flexibility; it requires mental stillness under pressure. When I train students for championships like the West Delhi District Yogasana Sports Championship, we focus on holding deep asanas with breath control while maintaining total poise, a skill that translates directly from the mat into their daily lives.
Competitive yoga is a path that teaches resilience. In our training sessions, we do not just work on advanced backbends or complex seated twists; we work on the mind. Whether it is perfecting a form for the artistic yoga category or building stamina for holding a pose, the goal remains the same: 'Sthirasukham asanam' (steady and comfortable posture).
My approach combines traditional Hatha Yoga foundations with the dynamic movements required for competitive Yogasana. I have seen students like Deepa, who clinched gold in artistic yoga at the district level, transform their nerves into focus through consistent, disciplined practice. Others, like Kanira, have shown incredible growth by competing on stages across Delhi.
Training for these championships involves:
