Gasshuku: Annual Seido Karate Mountain Training Camp
Stepping away from the dojo floor and into the mountains changes your perspective. Our annual Gasshuku is where we push past city limits to build endurance, sharpen focus, and strengthen our community spirit.
There is nothing like training in the misty mornings of the mountains. Our annual Gasshuku allows us to connect with nature and deepen our karate practice.
Gasshuku involves intense workouts, often lasting over 10 hours a day. We practice techniques and combinations repeatedly to achieve fineness and precision.
Our training camp is also about building endurance and spirit through extreme exercises. These drills build not only physical strength but also trust and camaraderie.
About Gasshuku: Annual Mountain Training Camp
The air is thinner, the mornings are cold, and the training is relentless. During Gasshuku, we run sessions that last over 10 hours a day, focusing on repetitive kata refinement and intense conditioning that you simply cannot replicate in a standard urban dojo environment.
Moving our practice to the mountains forces you to confront your own limits. In the city, it is easy to get comfortable. Here, surrounded by nature, we strip away the distractions of daily life. The training schedule is demanding. We are talking about full days of kihon (fundamentals), kumite (sparring), and meditation that go beyond the usual 60 to 90 minute class structure.
Why do we do it? Because karate is not just about techniques; it is about resilience. When you train on uneven ground, in the early morning mist, your balance and focus have to work harder. You rely on your fellow karateka, and that is where the real bonding happens. We are not just colleagues in a dojo; we are a family that has sweated through ten-hour days together. This camp is open to our serious students who are ready to test their physical and mental fortitude. It is an essential experience for anyone who wants to understand the true spirit behind our training philosophy.
