Summer Karate Training Camps in the Hills
We take our Kyokushin training beyond the dojo walls and into the mountains. Join our annual residential camps for intense mountain-air conditioning, trekking, and technique drills that you cannot replicate in the city.
The second day of our summer camp started with high energy. Here you can see the entire group practicing their techniques together in an open-air setting, with the sounds of nature around us.
A moment of discipline before our outdoor training session begins. Students line up, ready and focused, surrounded by the forest. This environment teaches a different kind of focus.
Students of all belt levels, from orange to blue, practicing their stances and punches in unison during our fourth day at the summer camp. Outdoor training sharpens the senses.
I am explaining the correct form for a middle punch (chudan-zuki). It's not about shoulder strength but about using your whole body, starting from the stance. Small details make a big difference.
Practice on top. We found a spot in the forest to work on our kata. Training in different environments, on uneven ground, improves balance and adaptability.
A young brown belt student demonstrates a powerful punch. Her focus and form are a result of consistent practice. I am right there guiding the class through the movements.
Even inside a temple courtyard during our camp, the training doesn't stop. The senior black belt students lead the group in practice, showing the leadership we build in our karatekas.
The start of Kata Pinan Sono Ni. This is a fundamental kata that teaches students basic blocking, striking, and stances in a flowing sequence. It is essential for grading.
Younger students with yellow and brown belts practicing their kata during the summer camp. Their concentration and effort show that discipline is for everyone, regardless of age.
A brown belt student practices her knee kicks (hiza geri). This is a powerful close-range weapon in Kyokushin karate, and we drill it for both power and precision.
About Summer Camps: Training in the Hills
Most people think training in the hills is a vacation, but the altitude and uneven terrain add a natural resistance to your breathing drills. We do not just hike; we hold specific stance training on forest paths and stone temple courtyards, forcing your legs to build stabilizer muscles they never touch on the flat, carpeted floors of our Delhi dojo.
This is not a leisure trip. Our camps are designed for students who want to break through their plateaus. When you step out of the comfort of the city and into the mountains of Bhimtal or Nainital, your focus naturally sharpens. We wake up early for runs in the crisp mountain air, followed by kihon (basics) drills that rely on the natural resistance of the terrain rather than gym mirrors.
We also bring the dojo culture with us. Whether it is practicing Kata Pinan Sono Ni in a temple courtyard or sparring on ground covered in pine needles, the environment demands absolute focus. This is where you learn that karate is about adaptability. We include trekking and team-building exercises, which are essential for building the camaraderie we value here. The physical work is demanding, but the mental clarity you gain from isolating yourself in nature is the true goal of this training.
