My Personal Yoga Practice and Philosophy
Yoga is more than just a sequence of poses. It is a daily commitment to breath, balance, and showing up for yourself with kindness, wherever you are.
A little playtime in the studio with a headstand variation. While my retreats focus on gentle practice, it is important to challenge ourselves sometimes. After the effort, we always come back to relaxation and surrender.
A short video of my personal practice, reminding us that there is never an excuse not to practice. Even a few simple stretches can help us reconnect with our body and breath, wherever we are.
A simple moment before practice. My feet on the mat, a strap, and a beautiful flower. Taking a moment to appreciate the small details helps bring mindfulness and gratitude to our yoga practice.
About My Personal Practice & Philosophy
I rarely step onto my mat without my props. Blocks, straps, and bolsters are not just for beginners. They are my tools for safety and deep release, allowing me to find stillness in even the most challenging asanas. Whether I am in my studio or traveling, these simple supports ensure my practice remains accessible and grounded.
My personal practice is my sanctuary. It is a daily ritual of 'Yogas citta vritti nirodhah'—quieting the fluctuations of the mind. People often ask me if I practice complex poses every day, but the truth is simpler. Some days, my practice is nothing more than restorative Yin yoga or a few minutes of Pranayam to center myself before the day begins.
The physical practice is just the outer shell. My philosophy revolves around surrender—letting go of expectations and the need for perfection. When you see me using a strap to deepen a stretch or a bolster to support a restorative backbend, I am demonstrating that yoga is not about how far you can bend, but how deep you can breathe.
This approach is the foundation of every session at my Hauz Khas studio. Whether you are a beginner hesitant to start or a practitioner looking to deepen your own understanding, the goal is always the same: to create space for kindness and gratitude within yourself. I believe that if we can be gentle with ourselves on the mat, we can bring that same patience and love into our daily lives. Come join us to see how simple, intentional movement can change your day.
