Live Watercolor Painting Demonstrations in Mumbai
Watch me create live watercolor paintings right before your eyes. From intricate heritage landscapes to spontaneous portraits, I bring art and live performance to events across Mumbai and Thane.
This is a work-in-progress shot of my Hampi landscape watercolor. You can see the initial pencil sketch and the first layers of color being applied to capture the texture of the ancient stone structures.
A close-up video showing my watercolor technique. I am painting a temple scene, focusing on the play of light and shadow and using the fluidity of the medium to create atmosphere.
A detailed view of the sky in the Hampi watercolor painting. Capturing the movement of clouds is a key part of landscape painting, and watercolors are excellent for achieving soft, blended effects.
The completed watercolor painting of a Hampi temple, created during a live demonstration at the Kalakari Festival in Satara. This piece showcases the final result of a live watercolor session.
It was an honor to receive this award at the Kalakari 4 Festival in Satara after my live watercolor demonstration. Being recognized by senior artists and sculptors was a highlight of the event.
In conversation with a senior artist at the Kalakari Festival. I value these moments to exchange ideas and get feedback from experienced members of the art community.
On stage with other honored artists and organizers at the Kalakari Festival. These events are a celebration of art and a great opportunity for artists to connect.
About Watercolor Demonstrations
When I paint live, I don't just work in silence; I talk you through it. I often skip the initial heavy pencil sketches to keep my watercolor strokes fresh and intuitive. It is about letting the medium flow—sometimes the water decides where the pigment goes, and that is where the real magic happens for the audience to see.
How My Live Watercolor Sessions Work
Painting in front of an audience requires a different mindset than working in the studio. Whether it is a corporate event, a festival like the Kalakari, or a museum demonstration, the process becomes a shared experience. I bring my portable easel, archival watercolor paper, and professional-grade pigments to set up anywhere—indoors or outdoors.
My Approach: From Hampi to Portraits
My training at the JJ School of Art taught me the discipline, but my practice is about spontaneity. I specialize in capturing the essence of historical architecture, like the stone structures of Hampi, and the subtle expressions in portraiture.
- Technique Explanation: I explain the play of light and shadow as I work.
- Engagement: Guests can watch the painting come to life from a blank sheet to a finished piece.
- Medium: I primarily use professional-grade watercolors that allow for that fluid, translucent quality which is perfect for capturing atmosphere.
Practical Details
If you are planning an event, these sessions usually run up to 3 hours. You get the original signed artwork at the end of the session, which makes for a unique memento. I handle all the logistics, including travel within the Mumbai Metropolitan Area and Thane. My focus is on delivering a performance that is as engaging to watch as the final painting is to look at.
