Live Painting & Event Art Performance
From festivals to museum exhibitions, I bring a blank canvas and finish it live. Watch the process unfold—the brushstrokes, the color choices, and the final piece taking shape right in front of your guests.
This is the energy of a live painting session. Here I am at the Thane Art Festival, working on a large canvas depicting Aai Bhavani presenting the sword to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. You can see the crowd gathering as the painting takes shape, which is what makes these events so special.
The finished piece from the Thane Art Festival. This is a 60x36 inch acrylic on canvas, created live over the course of the event. I enjoy working on a large scale to capture the grandeur of historical and cultural themes.
Here’s a glimpse of a live landscape demonstration I did for the Museum Art Carnival at CSMVS Museum in Mumbai. I can set up my easel anywhere, indoors or outdoors, and create a piece that captures the spirit of the location.
This was a proud moment, standing with my completed painting for the Indian Navy Day event at INS Hamla. The subject was the history of the 1971 war, and it was an honor to create a piece that pays tribute to our naval heroes.
It was a privilege to present my work to the Governor of Maharashtra during the 'Glory of Heritage' landscape painting workshop at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. This event, in association with my alma mater Sir J. J. School of Art, was a memorable experience.
A finished watercolor landscape of Hampi, demonstrated live at the Kalakari Festival in Satara. Working with watercolors requires a quick and confident hand, especially in a live setting, to capture the light and atmosphere.
Beyond landscapes, I also create portraits. This is a watercolor portrait done from a live sitting, focusing on capturing the subject's likeness and character through fluid brushstrokes.
This shows the foundation of all my work. An academic life drawing from my time at Sir J. J. School of Art, where I learned the fundamentals of anatomy and form. This rigorous training is what I bring to every painting I create.
About Featured
Whether it is a quick 3-hour session or a 6-hour large-scale performance, my process is entirely transparent. I do not hide behind pre-sketches. You will see me mix the colors, work on the canvas, and handle the environment of the event right there, which keeps the energy high and the result authentic.
When I paint live, the canvas is the main character. Coming from the JJ School of Art, my training taught me to trust my eyes and hands, even in noisy or crowded environments. You might have seen me at the Thane Art Festival or the CSMVS Museum. My work is not about hiding mistakes, it is about letting the audience see the creative journey.
What to expect
- Small Sessions: For workshops or corporate demos, I use A3 archival paper with watercolor or acrylic. It takes about 3 hours, which is perfect for smaller audiences.
- Large Performance: For weddings or festivals, I set up a 3ft x 5ft stretched canvas. This is a heavy-duty acrylic piece that I finish over 4 to 6 hours.
Logistics
I bring everything: the easel, lights, and paints. I am comfortable setting up indoors or outdoors, provided there is enough space to work and for the crowd to stand back. If you have a specific theme in mind, like historical architecture or a heritage scene, tell me early so I can prepare the references.
Why live painting works
It turns a regular event into a performance. Guests engage, ask questions, and leave with a sense of connection to the artwork because they watched it come to life. Whether it is a cultural program in Navi Mumbai or a corporate event in South Mumbai, I show up, set up, and get to work.
