Mastering the Deadlift: Powerlifting Techniques for Real Strength
The deadlift is the ultimate test of raw power. If you can't deadlift, what's the point? I train lifters for the competition podium, teaching you to pull with precision and intensity.
A 232.5kg national record deadlift. This is the pinnacle of what my coaching and an athlete's dedication can achieve.
A heavy deadlift in training. Notice the focus on maintaining a flat back and driving through the floor, key elements I drill into my lifters.
An athlete executing a powerful sumo deadlift. We find the style that best suits the lifter's body mechanics to pull the most weight.
A massive 245kg deadlift attempt. I am right behind my lifter, giving verbal cues and ensuring his safety and form are locked in.
A clean 190kg deadlift. Every training lift is a step towards a bigger total on the competition platform.
The raw effort of a heavy pull. This black and white shot captures the grit and determination required for deadlifting.
Preparing for the Senior National competition with a heavy deadlift session. The mind must be as strong as the body.
Even when you fail, you learn. This failed attempt is just a setup for a future success. A wounded lion is still a lion.
The setup, the pull, the lockout. A perfectly executed deadlift is a thing of beauty and power.
Training at 85% of a 260kg max. This is a calculated part of our program, building strength for the "Road to Senior" nationals.
About Mastering the Deadlift
I don't just send programs; I’m on the gym floor with you. Whether you’re pulling Conventional or Sumo, we drill your bracing and bar path immediately. If your form breaks, I’m there to correct it before it becomes a habit. We lift for power, not for the mirror.
Deadlift is about brute force controlled by technique. I see too many lifters ego lifting, sacrificing form for a number. In my team, we start with the setup. If your bracing is weak, your lift fails before the bar leaves the floor. We train at Ultimate Gym, Bhubaneswar, using competition-spec bars and calibrated iron plates. No gimmicks, just work.
For beginners, we build a solid foundation. For my competitors, we drill the IPF rules. You’ll learn how to lock out, how to manage your grip, and most importantly, how to use your mind to overcome the pain of a heavy pull. Injuries happen when you don’t listen to the bar; we respect the iron.
Whether we are prepping for a state meet or building your strength from scratch, the protocol is strict. We track your RPE, manage your loads, and refine your biomechanics. The deadlift is unconditional love, but it demands respect. You come here to learn, to fail, and eventually, to own the platform. A ghayal sher (wounded lion) doesn't quit, and neither do we.
