Authentic Mysore-Style Ashtanga Yoga in Bangalore
My practice is my sadhana—a daily rhythm of breath, discipline, and discovery. Here, you will find a space where Ashtanga yoga is taught with traditional roots, individual care, and a focus on building strength from within.
It’s just practice. To the best of our ability, we keep going, breath by breath. The depth of this path reveals itself over a long period of time, so trust is important. This is an inner journey, unique to every person.
This is an invitation to one of my weekend workshops. Day one focuses on introducing Ashtanga yoga fundamentals like Surya Namaskar and chanting. On day two, we go deeper into the primary series and the theory behind the lineage of my Guruji, Sharath Jois.
There is a powerful vibration when we practice together in the shala. It doesn't matter your level or where you are from; the collective energy of a group doing their sadhana together can take your practice to a different level.
Growth is uncomfortable, but it doesn't have to be a giant leap. Taking one small step forward is where momentum begins. Here, I am practicing an arm balance that requires both strength and focus, embodying that first step.
Ekadashi is a sacred day for purification, not just a fast from food. It is a practice of discipline, prayer, and inner cleansing, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This ritual helps purify the mind and guides us toward spiritual upliftment.
I feel my Guru, Sharath Jois, more within me than ever before. He leads us from darkness to light. As his students, our mission is to celebrate his life by sharing the best of what he has given us.
True mastery is an art. It lies in knowing when to be soft, when to be strong, and when to hold the space in between. This advanced inversion, Karandavasana, teaches me to meet each moment with exactly what it calls for.
Celebrating International Yoga Day with a soulful gathering of familiar faces and new smiles. From grounding asanas to calming pranayama, it was a morning of breath, balance, and beautiful energy. This is the community we are building, one breath at a time.
About Featured
Unlike typical fitness classes, I teach in the traditional Mysore style. This means you do not follow a teacher on a stage; instead, you learn the sequence at your own pace while I move through the room, offering individual adjustments and support. Whether you are recovering from an injury or just starting, I tailor the asanas to your body’s unique needs, not the other way around.
The journey of yoga is often mistaken for a series of physical poses. My classes and workshops focus on the 'why' behind the movement. We practice with the intent of clearing the friction in our minds, moving beyond the physical to understand the lineage, or parampara, passed down by my teacher, Sharath Jois.
What happens in a session?
Whether you are joining a 2-day intensive weekend or a 5-day morning fundamentals course, the focus remains on the Tristana method: breath, posture, and gaze. In the theory segments, we delve into Sanskrit chanting and the philosophy of the scriptures. This is not just a workout. It is an exploration of the self, aimed at giving you the tools to practice independently at home.
Building a community
I believe the energy of a group changes everything. In my shala in HSR Layout, we create a space where beginners practice alongside seasoned students. There is a quiet strength in that collective discipline. We learn to observe ourselves with compassion, recognizing that growth happens in small, steady increments rather than giant leaps. My approach integrates these principles into daily life, touching on mindful eating and discipline off the mat as well. If you have been looking to deepen your practice or are simply curious about where to start, you are welcome here.
