About Behind the Scenes: The Journey of Learning
At Sangeet Bharati, we prioritize live accompaniment—tabla and harmonium—over recorded audio during every practice session. This helps our students internalize the nuance of taal (rhythm) and laya (tempo) in real-time, preparing them for the dynamic nature of live stage performances.
The journey of learning classical arts is built on consistency and precision. Our Mandi House facility is designed to foster a focused environment where students, from beginners to advanced practitioners, engage in a Gurukul-style group setting.
The Practice Environment
Our practice halls feature high ceilings and traditional flooring, providing the acoustic and physical space required for serious training. Whether you are mastering tatkaar (footwork) in Kathak or refining adavus (basic steps) in Bharatnatyam, the environment is structured to support long-term development.
Preparing for the Rangmanch
We believe that training is incomplete without the experience of a live audience. Our annual events, such as 'Sarvaang' and 'Taranga', serve as the culmination of our quarterly training cycles. During these rehearsals, students learn more than just the technical aspects of dance; they learn the discipline of stagecraft, the importance of abhinaya (expressions), and how to maintain their poise under the lights.
Institutional Discipline
We run a structured curriculum across our sessions. Because we emphasize the development of a strong foundation, our courses operate on a quarterly cycle. This allows our gurus to track progress systematically, ensuring that students are not just learning steps, but are also absorbing the theoretical underpinnings of the art form. We invite students who are ready to commit to this disciplined, rewarding process of artistic discovery.
Sangeet Bharati
We are Sangeet Bharati, an institution dedicated to preserving classical arts in New Delhi. We guide students through a disciplined, Gurukul-style regimen, ensuring each performer understands the depth of their craft before they ever step onto a stage.
