About this collection
If you are curious about what lies beyond the traditional repertoire, our experimental workshops are where we break things down. We do not just teach steps, but explore the internal logic behind the movement, helping you understand how to infuse contemporary storytelling into classical Mohiniyattam while keeping the grace of our style intact. Whether you are a fellow dancer or a beginner, come sit in our kalari and experience how we blend ancient technique with modern thought.
Beyond the Traditional Repertoire
While our roots are deeply set in the classical framework, we find immense joy in the 'transition' of art. We view Mohiniyattam as a living, breathing language capable of evolving while staying true to its core. Our experimental works, such as 'Uthara' and our explorations of the Mahabharata, demonstrate how we use the stage as a canvas to test new narratives. These productions are not about abandoning tradition, but about upholding it by infusing fresh ideas and perspectives.
Why Our Workshops Matter
Our workshops are an extension of our practice. We have moved from the stage to teaching spaces at centers like Attakkalari, where we engage with dancers who want to delve deeper into the nuanced techniques of the Bharati Shivaji style. We don't believe in hoarding knowledge; we believe in sharing the 'why' and 'how' of every mudra and expression. Whether it is a masterclass with guest artists like Vijayalakshmi or an intimate session in our kalari, the focus is always on practical learning and the joy of community.
How We Collaborate
We treat every collaboration as a conversation. Whether you are looking to host a production that blends Hindustani music with Mohiniyattam, or you want to understand the theatrical elegance behind our choreography, we bring a full-scale professional approach to the table. We handle the technicalities of sound, lighting, and stage presence, allowing the art to take center stage. If you have a theme in mind, or simply want to explore the experimental side of this beautiful dance form, we are ready to create together.
