About The 'Anubhavam' Artist Series
We believe learning happens best through dialogue. In these sessions, we move beyond standard choreography to host informal conversations where you can directly ask our guest artists about their specific abhinaya secrets, their personal training journeys, and their unique approach to the lasya quality of Mohiniyattam.
The Anubhavam, meaning experience, is a series born from our need to create a space for real artistic exchange. We realized that while formal training is essential, the magic often lies in the stories behind the steps.
In these sessions, we invite masters and practitioners to our kalari in Gottigere. It is never a dry lecture. You might find us discussing how a seasoned dancer approaches the rhythmic nuances of Carnatic music or deconstructing the subtle hand gestures of a specific Padam.
We have previously hosted artists like Anju Peter, who brought insights from her years of research and performance, and Thomas Vo Van Tao, who shared his global perspective on male Mohiniyattam.
What to expect:
- Informal Demonstrations: See how technique translates into actual stage performance.
- Open Dialogue: Ask questions that often get missed in larger group classes.
- Diverse Perspectives: Engage with artists from different lineages and backgrounds.
These sessions are often open to the public, and we frequently host them with a voluntary donation model because we believe art should be accessible to all rasikas. Whether you are a student, a professional dancer, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of the classical form, you will find a warm, welcoming community here.
