Contemporary & Fusion Flow: Find Your Unique Movement
This is where I blend the storytelling of Kathak with the fluidity of modern contemporary. We experiment, sweat, and find our own unique flow in a space built for expression, not perfection.
A simple, expressive flow in a beautiful, rustic studio. This piece is all about connecting with the music and letting the movement come from within, a core principle of my contemporary classes.
The first flow of the year, a collaboration piece in a stunning studio with city views. This choreography incorporates dynamic floorwork and expressive gestures, typical of my fusion workshops.
A solo performance for a pop-up class, set to the iconic song 'Kehna Hi Kya'. This choreography is a fusion of semi-classical grace and contemporary emotion, performed in a moody, atmospheric studio.
A solo contemporary Indian piece for a pop-up class announcement. This choreography showcases the blend of sharp, controlled movements and fluid, graceful lines that we practice.
A sweaty, shaky, but heartfelt studio showcase at the end of an intensive. This is the culmination of our deep dive, a raw performance sharing what we created together.
A solo from an advanced contemporary class at Pineapple Dance Studios. The energy in this piece is about giving it your all and dancing your heart out, a vibe I always encourage.
A simple, elegant solo flow in the studio. Sometimes the most beautiful moments come from just moving to the music without a plan, finding freedom in improvisation.
About this collection
Don't come looking for rigid perfection in these sessions. We focus on floorwork, expressive storytelling, and really feeling the music, so wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a bit sweaty in. Whether you have experience or are just starting, the goal is to leave the technique barriers at the door and just move.
Where Kathak Meets Contemporary
I call this 'Contemporary & Fusion Flow' because it is exactly that—a fluid conversation between my Kathak roots and the freedom of contemporary movement. We don't just learn steps; we explore how to use the body to tell a story. You can expect a mix of traditional mudras (hand gestures), grounded Tatkar-inspired footwork, and modern floorwork that challenges your stamina and creative range.
What You Can Expect
My classes in Mumbai (at studios like The Movement Hub and All Things Studio) and London (like Pineapple Dance Studios) are built to be safe spaces. There is no judgment here. We start with a solid warm-up to prepare the body, followed by a routine that blends sharp, controlled movements with soft, lyrical flow.
- Intensives: These are deep dives where we strip back the performance aspect and focus on stamina and technical growth.
- Pop-Up Workshops: High-energy, two-hour sessions where we pick a track and dive into a fresh routine. Perfect for a weekend workout that feels more like a creative outlet than a gym session.
Why I Teach This Way
Dance is pal pal jeena (living in each moment) for me. Whether we are in an Andheri studio or a space in London, I want you to feel the same 'Ghar wali Diwali' (home-like warmth) comfort. It is not about looking a certain way; it is about how the music makes you feel and how you translate that into movement. If you are looking to push your physical boundaries while learning to express yourself without filters, this is where you belong.
